Job Description
2025 PDS&T Cell Line Development Co-Op Overview
Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie Interns.
The co-op student will be working in the Cell Line Development (CLD) group responsible for cell line generation expressing therapeutic proteins. This group also performs research projects to improve workflow and generate better host cell lines. The student will be specifically conducting experiments to understand the expression of bi-specific antibodies and improve the production of correctly-assembled molecules. Results will contribute to the CLD platform for future pipeline bi-specific antibodies and other complex molecules.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Transfection of mammalian cells
- Cell culture work for the generation of cell lines
- Cell sorting by flow cytometry
- Data analysis
- Genetic characterization
- Cross-functional communication
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or other related field
- Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship
- Expected graduation date between December 2025 – July 2026
- Must be able to commit to a 6-month program at AbbVie Bioresearch Center (ABC) in Worcester, MA (June / July - December).
- Cell culture experience
- Aseptic techniques
- Communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to CHO cell culture work
- Exposure to transfection of mammalian cell lines
- Worked with expression cell lines
- Experience with flow cytometry and genetic characterization

Compensation:
$58,656-$98,000 per year
