Key Responsibilities: Evaluate first-time freshmen applications to determine CSU eligibility based on GPA and a-g college preparatory courses. Review academic records, correspondence, and supplemental materials to ensure compliance with admissions requirements. Determine residency status for admissions and fee purposes, applying knowledge of California residency requirements and federal immigration regulations. Process applications for special populations, including international students, athletes, and participants in compact programs. Provide clear and professional assistance to applicants, parents, and high school counselors via mail, email, and phone. Accurately manage data entry in the student information system. Apply today Position Information This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an end date one year from the start of employment, with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego. Department Summary Enrollment Services is comprised of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Prospective Student Services, Out of State, Specialized and International Recruitment, and Enrollment Services Communications. Enrollment Services implements SDSU enrollment management policies and provides services to students from their initial point of interest in SDSU to their graduation. The Office of Admissions consists of the following areas: First-Year Admissions, Transfer Admissions, Graduate Admissions, Athletics & International Admissions, Admissions Eligibility Unit, Transfer Admission Support and Enrollment Services Support Unit. Education and Experience Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite. These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience. Key Qualifications Previous experience in a university setting in admissions, advising, evaluations or other student service related office. Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Proficiency using personal computers and web browser functionality. Experience with document reviews in a high-volume environment. Experience in data entry and updating database records. Experience reviewing and evaluating academic records, such as educational transcripts is preferred. Experience using a student information system in an academic or educational setting (e.g., PeopleSoft, Campus Solutions, or similar systems) is preferred. Experience working in an admissions or enrollment-related office, serving and supporting a diverse population of students is preferred. Compensation and Benefits Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,864 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
