Job Description:
Custom Hardware Graphic Designer
Role Objective:
Create visual designs and mechanical files for custom Beats hardware.
Role Summary:
Work cross-functionally with product, brand marketing & the global influencer team to create graphic hardware designs & mechanical files for all custom Beats audio products.
Customs are bespoke creations intended to inspire the world's greatest athletes, artists and musicians - they cannot be purchased by consumers.
The Role:
Design
Translate the visions of our partners and brand into impactful graphics and designs for Beats hardware that stand out on the world's biggest stages
Inform graphics, color & finish across all non-commercial Beats hardware
Output quick-turn, high-volume designs & mechanicals which meet the requirements of provided creative briefs
Create high-fidelity mockups and 3D renderings of Beats hardware
Develop digital design assets for programs within brand guidelines and manufacturing capabilities
Design internal and external facing pitch decks and presentations for partner and leadership review
Produce and oversee mechanical files for all Beats customs
Ability to convert artwork into vector format
Development & Innovation
Review hardware samples and provide detailed feedback to ensure all products meet Apple's quality standards
Research and stay up to date on current design and competitor trends
Foster a culture of innovative hardware design & continuously push new ideas which can be applied to Beats products - colors, finishes, treatments, graphic application methods
Work directly with local suppliers to innovate, problem solve & develop custom Beats hardware alongside the product team
Qualifications:
Expertise in digital design software (Creative Suite).
Highly adaptive, able to identify issues and proactively problem solve.
Profound understanding of fashion, elevated craft, and high taste level.
Understanding of how 2D graphics can be applied to curved surfaces.
Drive execution, foster innovation and collaborate well with others.
Ability to interpret written creative briefs and output graphic designs.
Ability to juggle multiple projects within a fast-paced environment and change priorities rapidly as required by the business.
Calm under pressure while exuding competence with a can do attitude.
Communicates effectively (written and oral) with all cross functional contacts (internal and external).
Strong writing and presentation skills.
Excellent eye for design, typography, layout & color.
Passion for a brand that moves fast and shapes culture.
Experience:
5+ years of graphic design experience
Experience working within culturally leading brand(s)
Understanding of make and manufacturing process
Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
Graphic design background required
