Job Summary and Qualifications The Trauma Program Vice President provides direction for a multidisciplinary trauma service. The primary focus is implementing and monitoring systems to enhance care of the trauma patient. You will work in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director to promote the goals of the Trauma Program, qualify all care issues regarding the program development, and optimize patient care. Program development is key to the success of this role. You will be responsible for the oversight of trauma related activities, and initiate changes to promote optimal care. You will act as an agent to the Trauma Medical Director and Administration, to ensure compliance with all hospital, local, state and American College of Surgeons requirements. This position maintains responsibility for 24-hour/day management.
What you will do in this role:
Develop goals and implements necessary policies within assigned departments.
Manage the process for recommending and securing approval for major capital expense items.
Develop, implement, and monitor the Trauma PI plan to achieve and maintain ACS Trauma Center verification.
Participate in developing staff educational goals and promote a culture of service and safety.
Develop, coordinate, and implement orientation, nursing education, and in-service programs.
Direct community trauma education and prevention initiatives by establishing programs for targeted populations in the city and surrounding communities.
Represent the Trauma Program in various Trauma organizations, programs, work groups, and hospital and community committees.
What qualifications you will need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
Master’s Degree in Nursing or related health field required.
Doctor of Nursing Practice, PhD or related health field preferred.
5+ years experience in Nursing required.
5+ years experience in Trauma Nursing required.
ACS verification / Re-verification at previous facility in the role of the Trauma Program Director/ Manager within the previous 4 years REQUIRED.
Experience in Quality/Performance Improvement and Project Management required.
Current license as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required.
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) preferred.
Trauma Certified Nurse Certification (TCRN) preferred.
TNCC Instructor preferred.
