About this position:
As the Head of IT & Security at Later, you will shape and lead our IT and security strategy, safeguarding our platform, applications, and user data. Your responsibilities include developing security policies, conducting risk assessments, and collaborating across teams to maintain a secure environment for our rapidly growing social media marketing tool. You will also oversee the internal technology strategy, infrastructure, and operations, ensuring seamless support for business objectives. In this role, you'll balance strategic oversight with hands-on management to optimize resources and mitigate risks.
What you'll be doing:
Security Leadership & Risk Management
Develop and maintain a comprehensive security strategy aligned with Later’s goals, integrating security into company-wide decisions. Lead cybersecurity, data protection, and compliance efforts (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, ISO 27001). Oversee risk assessments, vulnerability audits, and disaster recovery (HA/DR) processes, creating response plans to mitigate potential breaches. Collaborate with GTM, Support, and Services teams to address customer security needs, providing assessments, updates, and feedback loops for deal closures. Build and mentor a high-performing security team, fostering security awareness across departments. Collaborate with product, engineering, and legal teams on security in new developments. Security Operations & Infrastructure
Oversee security operations, including threat monitoring, intrusion detection, and infrastructure improvements (firewalls, encryption, access controls). Define, develop and roll out the Security Incident Management process across the organization. Ensure seamless IT infrastructure management, from networks to databases, system updates, and cybersecurity protocols, while maintaining business continuity with backup and disaster recovery plans. Education, Advocacy & Compliance
Lead security training programs to raise awareness, ensuring employees follow best practices and comply with industry standards (GDPR, HIPAA). Develop IT policies for data management, licensing, and security, while continuously monitoring and improving security practices. Align IT and security strategies with business objectives, managing budgets, and staying current with emerging technologies. Lead large-scale IT and security projects (system implementations, cloud migrations), driving digital transformation with cutting-edge tools (cloud, AI, IoT) to enhance processes. Manage relationships with external vendors and ensure high service delivery standards. Minimum Requirements: Minimum 7-10 years in IT & Cybersecurity, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, ideally within a SaaS or tech company environment. Proficient in modern security architecture, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), encryption, firewalls, and network security protocols. Expertise in privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards like SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, PII/PCI and incident response frameworks. Experience managing vulnerability assessments, threat detection, incident response, and risk mitigation strategies in dynamic environments. Proven ability to build, mentor, and lead security teams, fostering a security-first culture throughout an organization. Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, legal, and HR teams to ensure holistic security strategies. Experience in supporting GTM functions of Sales, Marketing, Services and Support. Ability to stay current with evolving cybersecurity trends, emerging threats, and best practices, while continuously improving security policies and procedures. Our approach to compensation: We take a market-based & data-driven approach to compensation. We leverage data from trusted third-party compensation sources to help us understand the market value of a role based on function, level, geographic location, and scope. We evaluate compensation bi-annually, including performance and market-related factors. Our salaries are benchmarked against market Total Cash Compensation for the geographic location of our job posting. Compensation for some roles is structured as On Target Earnings (OTE = base + commission/variable) while for others it is structured as Salary only. To comply with local legislation and ensure transparency, we share salary ranges on all job postings. Skills, experience and other factors help determine the final salary we offer which may vary from the original range posted. Additionally, all permanent team members are granted stock options and are eligible to participate in various benefits plans as part of their overall compensation package. $250,000 - 265,000 OTE Where we work: We have hubs in Boston, MA; Vancouver, BC; Toronto, ON; and Vancouver, WA.
