About The Role
This role performs quality tasks to track, monitor, analyze, document, and report on materials, equipment, processes and products, physical inspections on equipment, products, and documents to assure they are correct and complete, ensuring they meet Crescent Food, USDA, State, or local governments standards. The candidate will also assist in field work related to pest control and sanitation along with other miscellaneous tasks. This position typically works traditional hours, but occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required to successfully meet customers’ needs.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
Perform pre-operational (pre-op), changeover and operational sanitation inspection to assure that all GMPs, SSOPs and CCPs are followed. Monitor and document the food quality and safety functions and processes at the facility and assist in correcting defects. Assure the quality of the products leaving the facility/warehouse conforms to quality standards and governmental regulations. Complete and file all QA inspection forms in a timely manner. Maintain QA files, procedures, and policies in a readily accessible and organized manner. Assist in internal audits to monitor processes, facilities, and systems. Assure that equipment calibration complies with the USDA, GMP requirements. Oversee the pest control program. Spend the majority of the time on the floor inside the plant environment, assisting QA Manager and supervisor with development of procedures and other documentation. Coordinate with Production and Sanitation and assist in maintaining Master Sanitation Schedule activities. Assist management with employee training and monitoring of GMP’s, HACCP, M.S.D.S. & Allergen controls. Participate in QA Council/attend meetings. Assist QA management with implementation systems and procedures to ensure that operations are in compliance with corporate QA standards and policies, and Good Manufacturing Practices. Follow HACCP plan. Be a member of the HACCP team. Handle assignment of special projects as needed. Perform other Quality Assurance tasks as assigned. Assist with the implementation and communication of improvement programs designed to monitor and develop, with the process deviations and the quality of the product assurance. Identify and communicate consumer Quality and safety concerns or trends to ensure prompt resolution. Fill in as backup to QA Technician when needed. Assist QA management with enforcement and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food safety laws including applicable parts of the Code of federal regulations and all USDA, GMPs, HACCP, CCPs, SSOPs, and SOPs guidelines and regulations. Assist QA Supervisor in external auditing schemes such as SQF-Safe Quality Food. Demonstrate flexibility in work schedule as required. Must be able to work extended hours and weekends. Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates. In the absence of the Quality Assurance Lead, the Quality Assurance Supervisor will fill in. Assist USDA inspectors during their inspection journey if needed.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
Knowledge of state, local and federal food safety laws including SQF, USDA, GMP’s, CCP, HACCP, SSOPs and SOPs, Food Defense and Food Safety Culture guidelines and regulations. Proficient in standard business office software. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Fluency in written and verbal English. Demonstrated independent work initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy, analytical ability and professional demeanor.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma - Associates Degree Preferred or 3 years equivalent work experience. 1 – 3 years’ experience in QA/QC in the food industry preferred. R & D experience a must. Poultry, Meat, and handling, preparing, or cooking background a must. Ability to speak and communicate in Spanish, a plus but not mandatory. Ability to speak and communicate in English is mandatory.

The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
