DO-Fres-Assoc Dean Full Time 82902BR Job Summary The Chief Administrative Officer serves as the lead administrator for the Regional Campus at Fresno and as a key strategic advisor to the Vice Dean for all administrative operations and financial matters. The CAO is responsible for directing the business administrative operations for all areas of the UCSF Fresno campus, including Graduate and Undergraduate Medical Education, Pathway Programs, Facilities, IT and Finance. The CAO makes decisions on operational matters and ensures achievement of objectives for the UCSF Fresno campus, with multi-organizational influence. Working in tandem with the Vice Dean, the CAO strategizes, develops, directs, and coordinates financial planning and resource development for the campus' academic and operating budgets; establishes strategic plans and objectives benefiting the campus and University. Determines and establishes organizational structures and supervisory relationships as the campus adds new departments & programs. The CAO works jointly with the Vice Dean, SOM senior leadership, academic departments based in San Francisco, and campus leaders. The CAO collaborates with executive leadership at affiliate organizations (Central California Faculty Medical Group, rebranded as Inspire Health; Community Health systems and their hospital Community Regional Medical Center; Fresno VA Hospital) to establish/negotiate/renew affiliation agreements and to develop and implement operational planning and controls across organizations. This position works collaboratively with over 20 UCSF Fresno program Chiefs and oversees the managers & directors, providing leadership in the development and oversight of the administrative infrastructure of the UCSF Fresno campus. The CAO has operational responsibility for 179 staff as well as 269 without-salary core faculty (who are paid through affiliated partner, but are full-time faculty with UCSF), and 273 volunteer faculty, as well as the 300+ students, 80 observers & volunteers, 30 summer biomedical students. The CAO is the SOM local control point for all UCSF Human Resources & Academic Affairs programs, training events offered on the Fresno campus; also for campus and organization-wide programs, initiatives (WarnMe, Gallup, staff engagement), communications (Chancellor/Dean live-stream events held in UCSF Fresno auditorium), and staff appreciation events. This position reports directly to the Vice Dean for UCSF Fresno, with an indirect reporting relationship to the SOM vice dean for administration and finance. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. UCSF Benefits Department Description The School of Medicine Dean's Office at UCSF Fresno oversees, develops, and sustains clinical partnerships, infrastructure and resources that support teaching, research and administrative activities of the UCSF faculty, residents, students and staff at UCSF Fresno and its affiliate sites. As a Regional Campus, UCSF Fresno functions under the LCME Accreditation of the School of Medicine (sometimes referred to as the Main or Administrative Campus). Students and trainees at UCSF Fresno and any other Regional Campus must have equivalent experiences and support to those at San Francisco main campus in all facets of their medical education. UCSF Fresno has grown significantly over the past four decades. Today, UCSF Fresno is the San Joaquin Valley's largest academic physician training program, providing high quality education for medical students from several University of California campuses, training residents in eight medical specialties as well as residents in oral and maxillofacial dental surgery. In addition, UCSF Fresno offers training for fellows in 18 sub-specialties. Currently, UCSF Fresno annually trains approximately 250 medical residents and 50 subspecialty fellows. More than 300 medical students also spend time learning from the faculty at UCSF Fresno. In addition, UCSF Fresno runs the San Joaquin Valley (SJV) PRIME+ program, a multi-campus baccalaureate/MD program, in partnership with UC Merced.
