Verizon seeks a qualified Government Contracts Counsel to join its Public Sector legal team. This position will report to the Managing Associate General Counsel responsible for supporting vendor and partner contracts, and will specifically support Verizon’s Public Sector subcontracting and partnership activities. The candidate will work closely with key vendors, interpret and negotiate contract terms, and support the development of a unified administration, negotiation, and management process across all Public Sector subcontracts. The candidate must have sound business and contract judgment, strong interpersonal and negotiations skills, demonstrated ability to assess and improve workflow processes. The ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic sales environment is critical, as is the ability to develop key relationships and maintain a visible presence within Verizon’s Sourcing and Public Sector Sales organizations. Responsibilities include: Negotiating subcontracts, supplier agreements and partner agreements in support of Verizon’s federal, state and local government contracts. Providing legal advice and counsel on a broad spectrum of government contract and subcontract issues, such as teaming agreements, proposals, contracts and subcontracts. Working independently in resolving multiple complex customer solicitations, including analyzing, responding to and advising on and escalating high risk requirements. Having a strong understanding of relevant law, procurement, disclosure, and ethical requirements and other legal/business issues across Public Sector jurisdictions. Keeping current on and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local contracting and subcontracting compliance requirements issues, including federal requirements related to Supply Chain Risk Management, Buy American Act and Trade Agreements Act, utilization of small and disadvantaged businesses, and mandatory flowdowns and subcontractor certifications. Drafting and revising contractual documents, ensuring that final contract documents are accurate and consistent with negotiated positions. Maintain communications to ensure timely contract execution by the parties. Being fluent in Verizon’s wireless and wireline product portfolio. Assisting in developing training materials and educating Sourcing, Product, Sales, Proposals, Operations, and Contracts teams. What we’re looking for... You’ll need to have: JD degree and six or more years of relevant work experience. Bar membership and any needed licenses. Even better if you have one or more of the following: Thorough understanding of government contracting law. Strong understanding of the internal Verizon processes relevant to contract management. Supply chain experience. Ideally, with technology, services, and infrastructure. Experience negotiating and managing complex agreements. Strong relationship building, influencing, and negotiation skills. Experience with organizational reviews and commitment to building new teams and improving and harmonizing processes. Demonstrated strong oral and written communications. Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines. Confidence, versatility and a customer service attitude to interact with external procurement personnel as the point of contact for contractual discussions. If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $165,000.00 and $306,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
