Production Manager - Lam & Slitting

The Production Manager for the Lamination and Slitting Departments is responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing production schedules, optimizing processes, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a safe working environment. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, quality assurance, logistics, and procurement, to meet production targets and uphold company standards. The Production Manager will lead and develop the Lamination and Slitting teams to drive performance, productivity, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Oversight:
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage daily operations of the Lamination and Slitting departments to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Monitor production processes and adjust schedules or staffing as needed to meet output goals.
  • Ensure all products meet quality standards, and oversee corrective actions if defects or non-conformities arise.

Team Leadership and Development:
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of operators and technicians within both departments.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and develop growth opportunities for team members.
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability.

Process Improvement:
  • Analyze production processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement in both lamination and slitting.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and other process improvements to optimize productivity, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to upgrade equipment, modify layouts, and introduce new technologies.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality protocols.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Lamination and Slitting departments.
  • Monitor and maintain quality control documentation and support audits as needed.

Safety and Maintenance:
  • Uphold safety protocols and procedures to minimize accidents and create a safe work environment.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance schedules to prevent unscheduled downtime.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure that machines are well-maintained, calibrated, and in optimal working condition.

Inventory and Resource Management:
  • Manage raw material inventories, coordinate with procurement, and ensure materials are available to meet production requirements.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels of finished products, work-in-process (WIP), and waste.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as downtime, yield, and production costs.

Reporting and Data Analysis:
  • Prepare and present production reports, performance metrics, and analysis to senior management.
  • Track department budgets and expenses, working to optimize costs while meeting production goals.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, make informed decisions, and guide long-term planning.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Production Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Proven experience in a production management role, preferably in the manufacturing industry with a focus on lamination and slitting operations.
  • Strong knowledge of production equipment, lamination and slitting processes, and quality control systems.
  • Proficient in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience managing teams and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to work flexible hours, as needed, to support production schedules.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and compliance.
  • Physical ability to oversee floor operations when necessary.
