Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our team. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead and oversee engineering operations in a manufacturing facility specializing in welding, painting, hydraulics, electronics, and assembly. This role is responsible for managing and improving production processes, ensuring optimal performance, and delivering high-quality products. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in manufacturing engineering principles, with a focus on lean manufacturing, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to meet company goals.
Requirements:Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
• Supervise and lead a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance, performance evaluations, and development opportunities.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
• Work closely with production, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to ensure alignment on production goals and challenges.
Factory Master Planning and Capacity Optimization:
• Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes, focusing on welding, paint application, hydraulic systems, electronics assembly, and final product assembly.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles and lead initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for all manufacturing processes.
• Develop and oversee Columbia's Factory Master Plan that align with the overall business goals and objectives.
• Lead initiatives for factory space utilization and production line expansion to maximize output and minimize bottlenecks.
Production line Development:
• Design and implement efficient production lines for new and existing products, with a focus on welding, paint application, hydraulic systems, electronics, and assembly.
• Establish and continuously improve production workflows to reduce lead times, minimize waste, and optimize workforce utilization.
• Conduct time studies and line balancing exercises to ensure each station and operator function at optimal capacity.
Project Management:
• Manage engineering projects from concept through completion, including new product introduction, equipment upgrades, and production line modifications.
• Plan and execute timelines, resource allocation, and budgets to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope.
Quality and Compliance:
• Ensure all processes and procedures comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with the quality management team to implement quality control processes and resolve any production issues related to welding, paint, hydraulics, or electronics.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for any identified defects or non-conformities in production.
Equipment and Maintenance:
• Oversee equipment performance and coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure all machinery and tools are in optimal working condition.
• Recommend equipment upgrades or replacements to enhance productivity and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Work closely with product design, purchasing, and production planning teams to align engineering efforts with production schedules and inventory needs.
• Support supplier and vendor quality management and assist in sourcing decisions for materials and equipment.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Analyze production data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency.
• Prepare and present reports on engineering metrics, project status, and performance improvements to senior management.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt or comparable certifications, highly preferred.
Experience:
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering management, preferably in a company specializing in heavy industrial equipment, welding, paint, hydraulics, and assembly processes.
• Proven experience with ISO, API, and other quality management systems.
• Proven experience managing engineering teams, with a track record of process improvements and project management.
• Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to manage changing priorities and work under pressure.
• Project management experience leading large-scale projects from planning to completion.
Technical Skills:
• Proficient in CAD software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
• Proven experience with robotics & automation control, robotics programming software, and CNC programming PLC).
• Proficient with ERP planning, BOM & BOO development, fabrication techniques, and material selection.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO standards, API, and other relevant regulations.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is required.
• Analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
