The Department of Mechanical Engineering ( MECH ) at CSU offers a curriculum that integrates exceptional classroom learning and in-depth engineering practice for an unparalleled educational experience. Made up of 46 faculty members, 13 staff members, 1,200 undergraduate students, and 150 graduate students, ME is one of the largest departments on CSUs campus. Position Summary
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to work in the Engineering Manufacturing Education Center ( EMEC ) with the EMEC Director and engineering students.
The individual will help teach MECH 200B lab sections, instruct (as needed) the MECH 200A lecture sections, supervise Teaching Assistants, and will work with individual students and small groups to design, manufacture, and select manufacturing materials and processes.
Duties also include establishing and maintaining manufacturing tools and facilities, manufacturing parts for lab support, supervising student hourly employees, and student safety.
Required Job Qualifications
+ BS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline;
+ Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up;
+ Experience operating and maintaining machine tools, hand tools, and general shop fabrication equipment with metals, plastics, wood, and composites;
+ Experience working with engineering undergraduate students; and
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment;
+ CNC certification or requisite experience for Level 3 CNC machining, experience and proficiency with Mastercam CNC programming software;
+ Experience with Pro/Engineer (Creo), SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other solid modeling software; and
+ Experience and understanding of: heat treatment of metals, finishing, adhesives, forming, metal casting, welding, composites lay-up, sheet metal fabrication, tooling, etc.

+ Order supplies and materials to maintain inventory; and
+ Manage operating funds within budget.

+ Contribute to a culture of open communication and respect and serve as a positive role model for students in the EMEC ; and
+ Professional mentorship including resume review, consulting on vocational decisions, interview prep, and scholarship applications and recommendations. Assist students with identifying and applying to internships and full-time work; write letters of recommendation as appropriate.
