Division Overview:

Crown’s Closures, Aerosol & Promotional Packaging (CAPP) Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for the largest consumer packaging companies in North America. Our distinguished list of clients including SC Johnson, Abbott Laboratories and Unilever. We manufacture total packaging solutions including:

Closures: We manufacture a variety of decorative food and metal vacuum sealed closures, metal and composite closures, capping systems for glass and plastic container manufacturers.

Aerosol Packaging: We manufacture cans and ends for manufacturers of personal care, food, household and industrial products. We offer our customers a broad range of products including multiple sizes, color schemes and shaped packaging.

Promotional and Specialty Packaging: We manufacture a wide array of decorative containers with numerous lid and closure variations.

Job Accountabilities:
Crown CAPP is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Driver. The position will work closely with Line Crews and Shipping Coordinators to ensure a smooth transition of material through the production process.  Key components of this position include following all safety protocols, SOP’s, and assurance of quality along with facilitation of teamwork. This is an hourly position in high-speed, high-volume manufacturing environment where compliance to all safety policies, procedures and regulations is our way of doing business. We are looking for team-oriented individuals who are committed to customer quality, continuous improvement and achieving World Class Performance.

Day to day responsibilities will include the following:

  • Ensure all functions of the jobs are performed safely using the SafeStart process, required PPE, training tools, and written instructions; Ensuring all equipment guarding is serviceable and in place; (LOTO)
  • Perform pre-flight checks and safety pre-flight checks
  • Stage material for production lines
  • Load and unload material on/off production line conveyor
  • Unload 20,000-pound steel coils using Hoist lift truck
  • Unload components and miscellaneous items from incoming semi-trailers as needed
  • Load semi-trailers with finished product and components
  • Flip, band and wrap finished product
  • Maintain proper placement and organization of material in Work-In-Progress (WIP) area
  • Follow FIFO (first in, first out) process on material
  • Pull and weigh scrap material at end of shift
  • Stage and maintain organization of make ready material
  • Completes required daily documentation
  • Participates in teams and projects as directed by management
  • Follow SQF requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred
  • Commitment to Crown Faribault’s safety and plant policies and practices
  • Ability to learn and follow quality standards and line processes
  • Ability to drive forklift highly preferred – internal training provided
  • Sit-down propane or electric forklift
  • Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with other team members
  • Strong positive attitude and ability to lead by example
  • Ability to receive and give feedback
