This position is an internal posting for an increase/decrease in hours for a#particular CRMC employee to sign # POSITION SUMMARY Registered Nurses provide direct care to patients and are a part of all care given by other departments. Registered Nurses must continually strive to provide the highest quality of care possible for the patients. They must also lead the nursing team toward the achievement of the goals of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. High quality care and overall efficiency are essential components of this success. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Previous experience with cytotoxic medication and with accessing ports preferred. License/Certificates: Current Minnesota RN license. American Heart Association BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. American Heart Association ACLS required within 4 months of hire. #Chemotherapy Certificate Course (Cancer Chemo provider) within 1 year of hire. Special Skills and Aptitudes: Knowledge and skills to implement nursing theory. Demonstrates mature judgment, initiative and proficiency in nursing skills. Demonstrates leadership qualities and executive and organizational abilities. Ability to lead and supervise patient care team. Ability to interact effectively with physicians, patients and family, staff and other healthcare providers. Ability to adapt resources to meet the needs of the situation. Knowledge of applied science principles in nursing situations involving techniques and procedures, hygiene and safety measures. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to recognize manifestation of physical and emotional problems. Knowledge and skills to review charts and enter data efficiently. Teaching ability and ability to work independently using good judgment. Ability to properly and safely operate all equipment required for this position. Knowledge and use of community resources. May be assigned to specialty areas. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES RN: Exercises concern for the patient#s welfare, maintains knowledge of the patient#s condition, administers medication and performs treatment while practicing and maintaining high ethical standards. Responsible for direct and indirect care of patients assigned to her/him under the guidance of the CNO and/or Nurse Manager. Maintains accurate and complete records of nursing assessments, care and counsels of patient and family in meeting nursing related needs. Remains up-to-date on new nursing skills and technology and utilizes the nursing process (observation, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in the delivery of care. Performs duties in accordance with physician#s orders, the medical center#s policies, methods, and techniques, and in coordinating with other departments and personnel. Provides leadership and promotes teamwork. When requested, participates in in-service programs, education programs, and orientation of new personnel. Demonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned. Ambulatory Services RN: Acts as a patient advocate and resource to health care system. Keeps oncologist informed regarding patient change in condition and/or admission to hospital in timely manner. Demonstrates ability to educate and troubleshoot PICC#s and ports. Educates patient and family regarding chemotherapy and plan of care throughout course of treatment. Knowledgeable in biologic therapy. Participates in yearly oncology continuing education.
