Olympic College is recruiting for a full-time tenure-track faculty to join the faculty and staff team in the Social Sciences & Humanities Division. The position will be full-time tenure-track in American Sign Language. Primary courses taught are ASL& 121, 122, and 123 (American Sign Language I, II, III) as well as the possibility of teaching ASL 101 Fingerspelling and Numbering.Essential FunctionsTeach in-person classes, day, evening, primarily on the Bremerton campus, and at the Poulsbo and Shelton campuses when requested; Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping; Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested; Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs; Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff, and administrators; Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required. Maintain regular of?ce hours for student consultation. Provide academic advising for students. Attend faculty, department, and division meetings and serve on college and community committees. Deliver instructional course content with excitement and enthusiasm; Use a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success; Demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with little or no background, as well as the experienced student desiring to further their career; Utilize a variety of assessment activities to evaluate student learning and achievement including familiarity with Signing Naturally, True+Way, and GoREACT online textbook and learning materials; Appropriately incorporate the use of computer information technology in the delivery of services (using Canvas,
Signing Naturally, True+Way, and GoREACT); Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds as well as military veterans; Support diversity in higher education through application of culturally responsive teaching pedagogies and the use of diverse resources/voice, as well as by contributing through actions; Foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation; Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, diversity, and a learning-centered climate; Demonstrate success incorporating accessibility and special needs accommodations via course materials and classroom activities; Communicate effectively both orally/or through ASL and in writing in the classroom and with other professionals to maintain effective and positive working relationships; Collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students as part of an educational team; Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of course content and services, including use of the College-approved learning management system. QualificationsMaster's degree in American Sign Language or directly related area from an accredited college or university. Experience teaching undergraduate courses in American Sign Language. Desired Qualifications
