Job Summary
Will operate heavy mobile equipment and associated equipment of the underground limestone mine.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely, including all MSHA regulations.
Safely and efficiently operates heavy equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, drills and roof-bolters.
Perform daily pre-and post- inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
Perform minor servicing and maintenance on mobile equipment as needed, using ladders to access platforms and landings.
Must maintain a clean work area.
Follow directions of management as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project.
Other duties may be assigned.

The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. This position has extensive physical demands. Regularly required to stand, sit, talk or hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift up to 120 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Personal protection equipment is required as the position exposes the employee to mining and processing equipment, as well as underground mine works. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This is a non-smoking/vaping campus.
Employees hired will be provided with comprehensive MSHA new-miner training. This will be a minimum of forty hours of training before assuming any work duties. Once the training is completed, the employee begins working on the evening shift. This is a union operation, and the new hire will be a probationary employee for the first ninety (90) days. Upon completion of the probationary period, the employee will be given one of the open positions on the evening shift, as they will have no bidding rights for the first year of employment. The initial classification is typically mine scaler. During the first year of employment, the employee will operate heavy equipment in an underground limestone mine.

Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with fit for employment screening (if required) are required as conditions of employment.

Position Requirements and Education
- A High School diploma or GED required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous work experience operating mobile equipment is preferred.
- Valid NE driver's license with ability to be insurable under the company insurance program.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Able to demonstrate clear and effective judgment in situations requiring independent, responsible decision making.
- Must be willing to work 2nd shift (night shift).
