Job Summary:
The Medical Office Assistant provides both clinical and administrative support to physicians and surgeons. This role involves assisting with patient care, performing medical office tasks, and ensuring smooth operations within the healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with patient care, including performing venipuncture, EKGs, taking vital signs, and preparing patients for exams.
- Manage patient flow and provide assistance with walking, dressing, and transferring patients as needed.
- Handle clerical tasks such as managing patient records, obtaining test results, and completing forms.
- Input orders and prescription requests into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Maintain and restock medical supplies, ensuring proper sterilization techniques are followed.
- Maintain logs for medications, point-of-care testing, and medical supplies.
- Assist with scheduling procedures, surgeries, and patient appointments.
- Perform phlebotomy duties and verify insurance information when necessary.
Requirements:
- Experience: 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, with phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Skills: Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite, effective communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced medical office environment.
- Certification: Certification as a Medical Assistant from an approved school.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Languages: Fluent in English (speak, read, write).
- Additional Notes: Experience with Epic EMR system is preferred.
