An established engineering firm in Miami, Florida with headquarters in Kendall is seeking a dedicated Safety Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of workplace safety for our construction and land development projects. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with safety regulations, implement proactive measures to minimize risks, and foster a culture of safety excellence across all teams and sites. This role is in the field and on-site.


Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Development:

  • Design, implement, and maintain the company’s safety management program tailored to construction and land development projects.
  • Develop site-specific safety plans and ensure all employees and contractors are informed.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Maintain records of safety training, audits, and incidents as required by law.

Training and Education:

  • Conduct regular safety training sessions and toolbox talks for employees and subcontractors.
  • Stay updated on new safety regulations and best practices, sharing knowledge with team members.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Identify potential hazards in construction and land development projects through risk assessments.
  • Recommend and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.

Incident Management:

  • Investigate safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
  • Develop corrective action plans and follow through on implementation to prevent recurrence.

Audits and Inspections:

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of job sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Work with project managers and site supervisors to address deficiencies promptly.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters.
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness, accountability, and proactive problem-solving among all employees.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour, CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), or equivalent.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in construction and land development projects.
  • Proven track record of managing safety programs and maintaining compliance on job sites.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety best practices, and risk management strategies.
  • Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable solutions.

Other Requirements:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong advantage due to the diverse workforce in Miami.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites within the region.
