Overview
Next 150 Construction, a fully owned subsidiary of Gilbane Building Company is seeking an HR Business Partner. The HR Business Partner is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with local business partner and senior HR management in supporting field leadership teams. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruiting/employment, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, compliance with collective bargaining agreements, and employment law compliance.
Responsibilities
CORE JOB TASKS:
- Investigating employee complaints and disciplinary matters while adhering to union guidelines.
- Addressing grievances filed by employees through the proper channels.
- Supporting staffing efforts and labor strategy at all levels in partnership with HR Manager and Director.
- Participating in career trades and trade programs (including apprenticeship and union hiring halls).
- Participating in the recruitment process by discussing staffing needs with management, interviewing key hires, and making recommendations to management for hiring decisions.
- Participating in Staffing meetings to ensure workforce planning data is captured and updated to reflect current needs/availability.
- Providing advice to managers on employee wages and salaries to administer the Salary Planning Process. Championing the annual performance appraisal process to ensure completion. Coaching managers on ratings system and conducting effective performance discussions.
- Interacting with union representatives where applicable.
- Reviewing and having knowledge of relevant CBAs and how that impacts communications, compliance, documentation, onboarding, offboarding, and decision making.
- Providing training for both management and employees on the CBA, union relations best practices, and labor laws.
- Maintaining awareness of current and changing employment laws. Providing coaching and guidance to field management teams related to employee performance, interpersonal team conflict, and team dynamics.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree
- 3-5 years' human resource experience, or a master's degree in human resource management and two years' experience in the HR field
- Experience with unions, prevailing wage, craft or self-perform workforce, and labor relations required

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
For Boston, MA this ranges from $95,000.00-$125,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
