Position Summary:

Under minimal supervision, the Account Specialist will carry out day-to-day accounting duties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and other general accounting tasks. This role also serves as a backup for the Cost Accountant, ensuring seamless operations during absences. The Account Specialist will support financial accuracy and efficiency across the accounting functions at Rollmet. Must be US citizen for the role.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities :

Include the following (other duties may be assigned):

GENERAL ACCOUNTING:
  • Conduct review, analysis, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including payables, receivables, cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accrued liabilities.
  • Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of company financial statements and statistical reports.
COST ACCOUNTING SUPPORT:
  • Provide inventory reporting and support inventory counts.
  • Complete reconciliation tasks, identify account variances, and justify findings.
  • Assist in setting standard costs for manufactured goods and performing work order variance analysis.
  • Collect and analyze data on plant operational costs to aid in standard cost development.
  • Act as a backup for the Cost Accountant.
  • Assist with variance analysis, inventory valuation, and cost reporting as needed.
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:
  • Match invoices with purchase orders and/or receipts.
  • Perform three-way match voucher pack assistance.
  • Code invoices appropriately and process for payment.
  • Verify and resolve account discrepancies by collaborating with the purchasing department and vendors.
  • Maintain good relationships with vendors and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Review and process emailed and mailed vendor invoices.
  • File check run information and maintain accurate records.
  • Scan and organize packing slips and invoices.
ACCOUNTS RECIEVABLE
  • Process customer invoices and payments.
  • Reconcile AR balances and follow up on outstanding accounts.
  • Assist with cash application and ensure timely receipt posting.
FIXED ASSETS:
  • Support fixed asset tracking, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
REPORTING
  • Support finance department leadership in preparing internal reporting deliverables, consolidated projections, and variance analysis.
  • Summarize consolidated results and calculate enterprise metrics for executive review; provide ad hoc data and analysis for Corporate and Executive Management as needed.
  • Review and document internal control testing.
FORECASTING & PLANNING
  • Assist with the consolidation process for budget forecasts; analyze variances between budget, forecast, and projections.
COLLABORATION & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
  • Work collaboratively with finance team members and Division personnel on projects.
Qualifications
  • S. Citizenship: Required due to ITAR facility regulations.
  • Must be local or have reliable transportation, as the position requires an onsite presence.
  • High school diploma required, additional training or coursework in accounting preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and vendors.
  • Proficiency in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
  • Familiarity with database software, order processing systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to meet the required competencies for this position, which include:
  • Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting practices.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word applications
