Terramac is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer at our St. Louis, MO location. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for 1) design and improvement of manufacturing processes that incorporate Lean ideas and manufacturing best practices, and 2) the facility requirements as they relate to maintenance, environmental safety, civil, and other related areas.
You will develop tooling and fixtures, as well as design workstation layouts that produce quality products. You will manage large capital projects with strict timelines, as well as balance smaller projects to meet the needs for all production areas. You will also proactively look for improvement initiatives and identify risk management concerns.
The Manufacturing Engineer will:
- Develop and Maintain Manufacturing BOMs (bills of materials) in conjunction with the design engineering staff, including Sub-assemblies
- Implement ECN (engineering change orders) into manufacturing process including updating of Manufacturing BOM as needed.
- Design process improvements to reduce product cost, process cycle times, and improve product quality while adhering to company and safety policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing related issues related to material, process, or personnel.
- Assist in current and develop and coordinate future capital projects that improve or expand manufacturing capabilities while adhering to strict timelines and cost.
- Plan, design, and assess workstations, fixturing and tooling for current and future manufacturing processes.
- Document all manufacturing processes and communicate them effectively to the manufacturing operation. Assist in training both hourly and salary employees in manufacturing processes.
- Use SolidWorks CAD in tooling design and workstation layouts.
- Develop and apply engineering standards and procedures, develop and implement action plans, and provide advice on questions or issues within the applicable engineering field.
- Effectively communicate with all members of the workforce, as well as upper management, ownership, vendors, and suppliers as appropriate.
The Manufacturing Engineer will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with Manufacturing Discipline preferred.
- 2 or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Advanced knowledge in manufacturing process and floor improvements.
- Strong computer skills and understanding of Manufacturing Operating Systems/ERP systems and SolidWorks.
- Strong ethical conduct.
- Strong verbal and written communication proficiency.
- Ability to understand and communicate written procedures affecting the production floor for the purpose of training and understanding.
- Results-driven attitude focused on Facility Manufacturing Initiatives.
- Strong critical thinking skills as they apply to process and manufacturing improvements.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
