SUmmary
The manufacturing engineer role performs conventional, less complex manufacturing engineering assignments that involve developing and improving engineering processes and systems (including advanced) associated with the production of the organization's products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish work standards through accepted time and motion techniques and maintain the work measurement system.
- Estimate standards and prepare cost estimates on new products or engineering changes as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
- Justify value of product cost to customer.
- Constant analysis of methods and manufacturing processes for improvement, simplification, revision, cost reduction and utilizing Kaizen.
- Initiate new and revise existing plant layouts.
- Audit current standards for changes and improvements in manufacturing processes and to insure a fair and equitable work measurement program.
- Initiate new information and maintain current data in both the process routings and bills of material reports. Audit both as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
- Instruct manufacturing management and hourly employees in the application of industrial engineering programs.
- Investigate methods change, layout revision, and cost reduction recommendations.
- Derive and establish systems of standard time date for measuring entire classes of work.
- Develop and initiate means of measuring indirect labor and other non-repetitive work.
- Investigate and evaluate designated manufacturing problems, determine most suitable courses of action to remedy conditions and make recommendations to the Engineering Manager.
- Gather, compile, and analyze data and information on manufacturing operations and conduct special studies and projects as directed by the Engineering Manager.
- Develop and design jigs and fixtures to improve manufacturing processes.
- Participate in safety and ergonomic teams and be constantly aware of safety/ergonomic considerations in all activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
- Development of manufacturing processes by completing detailed engineering analysis of:
- Design for assembly
- Logistics and contingency planning
- Process flow
- Process labor planning and line balance
- Material flow and line side presentation
- Plant layout and ergonomic analysis
- Process failure mode and effect analysis
- Production equipment and tooling specification, purchase and acceptance.
- Validation of manufacturing process to meet labor targets, production output and quality standards.
- Safety: Study, institute and maintain efficient and safe work practices, procedures, facilities; by coordinating with the Human Relations Department and Manufacturing Engineering Department and keep them abreast of all safety and efficiency requirements in order to maintain an accident-free, high efficiency plant operation.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial and/or Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in the automotive sector.
- 5+ years of proven experience working with Industrial Textiles (Trim)
- PLC Experience required.
- Experience with PLEX ERP preferred.
