This position provides essential support in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. As a substitute custodian, you will be responsible for performing a variety of special cleaning operations across different areas of the school. Hours vary between 1st and 2nd shifts (as needed).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform general cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas
  • Handle special cleaning tasks as needed, including floor waxing, carpet cleaning, window washing, and disinfecting surfaces
  • Assist with trash and recycling removal, ensuring proper disposal in designated areas
  • Replenish restroom supplies (paper products, soap, etc.)
  • Respond to urgent cleaning requests and spills promptly to maintain safety and cleanliness
  • Collaborate with other custodial staff to ensure effective coverage of assigned areas
  • Secure school facilities, including locking doors and windows, and reporting any maintenance needs or safety concerns
  • Assist with light maintenance tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs, unclogging drains) as needed
  • Follow all safety protocols and use cleaning supplies and equipment according to established guidelines

Qualifications:
  • Prior custodial or cleaning experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including 1st and 2nd shift coverage
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods
  • Dependability and punctuality are essential

Work Environment:
This position will require working in various areas of the school, including classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, and more. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and other environmental conditions may be expected.
