Job Summary

Executes the enterprise-wide healthcare compliance strategy, focusing on the areas with greatest risk to the company.Collaborates with internal and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines. Provides broad scale compliance expertise to the business teams and works with all levels in the Walgreens Compliance Department, Legal Department, and other functional areas.

Job Responsibilities
  • Utilizes a comprehensive approach to identify healthcare compliance issues and executes compliance activities that evaluate and provide assurance to management that objects are being met. Identifies and implements strategies to resolve problems or barriers that could hinder successful execution of healthcare compliance activities.
  • Engages business segment leaders in the healthcare compliance process to ensure strategic objectives are well understood in order to deliver anticipated results. Provides day-to-day compliance expertise to healthcare business areas and remains abreast of activities implicating healthcare compliance. Identifies potential areas of healthcare compliance vulnerability and risk and provides guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships and networks with departments that interact with the Compliance Department. Works collaboratively with members of the Compliance Department, the Legal Department, and other functional areas within the Company to ensure that appropriate actions are taken to implement strategic and operational initiatives
  • Actively identifies, monitors and remediates issues and provides independent review and evaluation to ensure healthcare compliance issues/concerns within the organization are appropriately resolved. Supports investigations and corrective actions as needed
  • Coordinates with functional areas as needed to enhance policies and system controls. Develops reports, projects, and assessment tools to verify compliance.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years experience in compliance or related fields OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years experience in compliance or related fields.
  • Experience working with federal and state healthcare regulatory laws, including Anti-Kickback, Stark, Civil Monetary Penalties, and False Claims Act.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing the elements of an effective ethics and compliance program.
  • Experience evaluating information to determine compliance with standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with senior management and individuals at all other levels of the organization and interacting with diplomacy and tact.
  • Experience diagnosing legal and compliance issues and presenting solutions and alternatives for management.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • At least 1 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Juris Doctorate, Masters, PharmD and/or Compliance Certification (e.g., CCEP)
  • Experience in the Healthcare of Pharmaceutical industry
