Job Title: Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP) Program Generalist

Job Status: Full-time

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, the CAAP Program Generalist uses intermediate skills obtained through experience and training to support the Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP) in various areas including, grant processing, data-entry, research, donor stewardship and outreach, and writing. This position also serves an important role as adult advisor to CAAP's Teen Grantmaking Initiative program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as adult advisor to CAAP's Teen Grantmaking Initiative program including assisting with planning and preparation for meetings and events, communicating with youth members, and working with other advisors to plan agendas and activities
  • Promote strategies for youth engagement, including engagement of youth program alumni and CAAP scholarship recipients including planning events, communicating with youth both in person and in writing, and developing creative engagement strategies
  • In conjunction with the CAAP team and the Communications Department, may assist with marketing and communications for CAAP by writing, preparing materials and communicating with donors, grantee organizations, and partners in order to positively promote CAAP's mission
  • Support the execution of CAAP's board-directed funds by developing materials, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, proposal review, and data-entry
  • Process grants to various nonprofits from CAAP funds; involves learning about various philanthropic funds and grantmaking procedures, research, writing, data entry in DonorFirst and Raiser's Edge databases, record-keeping, filing, and communications with organizations
  • Process donations to CAAP; involves data entry and analysis, writing and processing thank you letters to donors, and assisting with follow-up reports to donors as needed
  • Assist with developing and implementing proactive strategies for CAAP's fundraising and donor outreach activities by researching, writing letters, fact sheets, and other materials and responding to inquiries
  • Assist with maintaining relationships and correspondence with donors and prospects, including donor acknowledgement and recognition
  • Assist in coordinating special events by creating and maintaining attendance lists, coordinating logistics, assisting with follow-up communications
  • May coordinate the Building Blocks for New Americans program which may include communicating with donors and case managers across other ACCESS departments, tracking financial information and progress notes, negotiating resource partnerships, and working directly with refugee clients
  • May seek sponsorships and donations from local businesses, coordinate with partner organizations for the Teen Grantmaking Initiative projects
  • May assist with researching best practices among community foundations and non-profits
  • May assist with the writing, editing and submission of grant proposals
  • Promoting the mission and message of the Center for Arab American Philanthropy to businesses, corporations, and individuals
  • Working with the CAAP team on other projects as needed
  • Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:
  • Intermediate concepts, principles and practices of fundraising/development
  • Donor relations and stewardship

Skill in:
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Publisher)
  • Operating Raiser's Edge and DonorFirst database system helpful
  • Grantmaking Initiative protocols & procedures
  • Grantmaking and donor-advised fund procedures
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum Degree Required:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Required Disciplines:
    • Communications, Marketing, Business, Education or a related field

  • At least one or more years of experience in communications, marketing, and social media a plus. Some experience working with youth is helpful or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
