First United Methodist Church of Marion is hiring: Janitor/ Maintenance in Mario

1. Assist in fulfilling the goals of the pastor, staff and appropriate church committees.
2. Clean the whole church, except those areas designated as the responsibility of the daycare custodial staff, according to the check list.
3. Inventory all cleaning supplies and keep ample supply on hand.
4. Set up the fellowship hall and other rooms as requested.
5. Perform minor maintenance repairs.
6. Report special maintenance needs that require professional attention to the Business Manager and Trustees chair.
7. Maintain all church maintenance equipment in proper working condition.
8. Secure the church each evening by locking doors, turning off lights, and shutting off heat or air conditioning, when appropriate, Monday through Friday.
9. Unlock the church Sunday mornings before 7:30 a.m. and perform last minute preparations for Sunday services. Check and lock all doors every night after all parties have left the building
10. Check the yard around the church for trash.
11. Prepare the church before funerals and clean up afterwards, coordinate with the funeral home for arrival, set up, and ending times, and open and close columbarium as necessary
12. Be available for additional cleaning responsibilities after weddings and other special functions for which the event sponsor pays the custodian a fee set by the church, or make arrangements for a substitute. Coordinate with wedding planner for weddings.
13. Attend staff meetings, as requested.
14. Maintaining the church van, moving when necessary for funerals, have van inspected on a yearly basis, and general maintenance.
15. Maintain and proper use of church credit card assigned to you. Turn in all receipts to business manager. Make sure credit card is secured when in your possession and used for appropriate church expenses.

We are ultimately looking for two people to fill this position who will be able to work as a team.

An employee may be assigned other related projects by the Pastor or the Staff-Parish Relations Committee as needed.
