Description

Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.  We are in search of an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor in Rockville, MD. The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized behavior intervention plans for residents, collaborating with other team members to ensure the highest quality of care. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in behavioral health, crisis intervention, and client-centered therapy for individuals with various developmental, emotional, and psychological needs. Starting pay is $90,000/annually  Responsibilities
  • Create individualized behavior plans for adults in group homes, tailored to address their unique needs and challenges, while ensuring the goals are measurable, achievable, and sustainable
  • Conduct thorough behavioral assessments and functional analysis of resident behaviors to 
    identify triggers, patterns, and underlying causes
  • Evaluate progress and adjust behavior plans as needed
  • Work closely with group home staff, case managers, family members, and other healthcare professionals to implement and monitor behavior plans
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on how to implement the strategies outlined in the behavior plans effectively
  • Provide immediate support during crisis situations, ensuring safety for residents and staff
  • Offer strategies and guidance to manage challenging behaviors and de-escalate potential conflicts
  • Track and document the progress of behavior plans and regularly update documentation to reflect changes in behavior or conditions
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and organizational standards
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, including assessments, behavior plans, progress reports, and any other documentation required by the organization or regulatory bodies
  • Advocate for the residents' needs, ensuring their rights and dignity are maintained in all aspects of care
  • Assist with facilitating access to additional therapeutic services, such as counseling or psychiatric care, as needed
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
  • Employee must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field
  • Licensure: Current and valid LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) certification in respective state
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with adults in group homes or similar settings
  • Experience with behavior assessment, treatment planning, and implementing behavior interventions
  • Knowledge of mental health disorders, developmental disabilities, and behavioral disorders commonly seen in adults in residential care
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral therapy and evidence-based intervention strategies
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to assess complex behaviors and develop individualized interventions
  • Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Compassionate, patient, and nonjudgmental approach to care
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries while fostering therapeutic relationships with residents and staff
