Min Hourly Rate $14.70 (Standard); $13.70 (Non-Urban); $15.95 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $17.00 (Standard); $16.50 (Non-Urban); $18.00 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Office Assistant position for the College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) administration. The person in this position will work as a member of the CAS Office of Research team in their research communications efforts. Projects highlight research accomplishments within the College, advertise resources and opportunities, or share recent efforts to support the CAS research mission. This position will also be responsible for supporting the general administrative functions of the office by assisting with meetings and events and performing other office tasks. CAS Office of Research personnel will direct and assign tasks and approve the final products. Execution of those tasks by this position requires discretion and tact, particularly in interacting with other offices that support the CAS research mission. This position may occasionally be asked to lift objects under 20 pounds, but the ability to do so is not a requirement of the position. Position Duties 70% Research Communications Coordinate the generation of the CAS Office of Research newsletter. Set appropriate deadlines, track receipt of all team contributions, and assemble the final design in Mailchimp. In partnership with office staff and the CAS Marketing and Communications Team, update and maintain CAS Office of Research webpages and other digital resources. Assist in the creation of new materials. Under guidance from the Director of Sponsored Programs Services, develop communications for recognition of notable grants received within the College of Agricultural Sciences. Under guidance from the Director of Sponsored Programs Services, identify and compile funding opportunities with assistance. 30% General Office Duties Assist with set-up and logistics for meetings and events hosted by the CAS Office of Research. Support team members in event planning efforts. Maintain office calendar with applicable deadlines, changes in service coverage, upcoming events, and other information relevant to office operations. Other assigned daily office tasks and special projects as needed. Minimum Qualifications Full Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here: http://fa.oregonstate.edu/stu-manual/500-employment-eligibility-requirements Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications Demonstrate attention to detail, independent work style, and a willingness to troubleshoot simple office related problems. Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team. Demonstrated strong communication skills. Ability to prioritize and multitask. Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with common software and computer functions and ability to learn new software. Experience with other MS Office programs (Word, Outlook, Power Point, Excel) Strong written and oral communication skills Time management skills; ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal prompting Preferred (Special) Qualifications Previous experience with Mailchimp. Previous experience in a University office setting. Previous communications design experience. Working Conditions / Work Schedule Must be able to work at least 8 hours/week (Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00pm) on a predictable schedule.
