Hourly Rate: $18.73 per hour The Dauphin County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Teamsters Administrative Assistant I (Out of County). This is a responsible position that provides clerical and administrative support with a high degree of confidentially in the Sheriff's Office. The position primarily involves the receipt, docketing and processing of civil cases filed outside of Dauphin County and processing and allocating related monies per the Sheriff Fee Act. The employee in this role is responsible for but not limited to performing the following essential functions: Receives, dockets, allocates and processes Sheriff fees for individuals arrested on Domestic Relations warrants. Assists representatives from law firms with civil processes to be served in Dauphin County by providing the appropriate Sheriff service fee; answers general questions regarding the civil process. Collects judgments from Personal Property cases ensuring judgment amounts are accurate and include docketing fees, court fees, levy fees, sheriff mileage fees, state fees, sheriff poundage and posting fees. Dockets payments, allocates funds, and provides receipts to payors. Serves defendants who appear in the Sheriff's Office on civil cases the correct true and attested civil case; provides accurate information of the person served by entering in Police Central the date and time of service and address where the service was completed, to create the Return Affidavit of Service. Receives and dockets Order of Protection from Abuse (PFA), filed out-of-county and requiring service, on computerized template in Police Central to include name of plaintiff and defendant, defendant's birth date, addresses, eviction and firearms status, and hearing date, time, and location; conveys documentation to Civil Sergeant for immediate distribution to Deputies for service. Serves Order of Protection from Abuse (PFA) to defendants who appear in the Sheriff's Office and informs defendants of statutes and provisions of the Order; provides hearing date, time and location; explains hearing process and answers related questions; obtains defendant's signature on Affidavit of Non-Ownership and Non-Possession of Weapons when applicable. Processes delinquent Judicial Taxes annually for both in-county and out-of-county services, using Excel spreadsheets, to include receiving, docketing using Police Central templates, cost accounting, and invoicing. Answers incoming calls and provides accurate information to callers to include, but not limited to, providing accurate Sheriff service fees to law firms or plaintiffs, scheduling dates and times for Deputies to complete service to defendants who receive call-back cards, providing status and service information and advising of any issues or concerns with service to law firms or plaintiffs. Performs all other duties as assigned. The employee in this role is also responsible for but not limited to performing the backup duties listed below: Assists in customer service by telephone and at the counter; routes calls, and/or takes messages, as appropriate. Performs duties of Administrative Assistants in their absences, to include but not limited to docketing and processing civil cases filed in Dauphin County, Protection from Abuse Orders, Personal Property Writs of Execution, and delinquent tax records. Provides occasional assistance in the Licensing Permit Office. Provides filing assistance to the Warrant Division on an as-needed basis. Attends training, meetings, and in-services as required. Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned. This is a union position. A higher hourly rate may apply if successful candidate is an existing county employee. Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements: Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalency, plus some clerical and computer training. Work Experience: 2-3 years working experience in office environment, county government or court system or any acceptable combination of equivalent training and/or experience.
