Senior Director, Creative Strategy
role within the Walmart Creative Studio. You are an entrepreneurial leader who understands how to build strong relationships and influence at both the peer and senior leadership level, translating data and customer insights into actionable briefs while helping to create, shape and sell effective creative platforms. You will drive cross-functional collaboration to embrace and value Creative Strategy as a new internal capability by demonstrating in real time how sharp, single-minded strategies inform the best work. In this role you will define the vision for the internal Creative Strategy team, establish best practices for collaboration, arm and inspire our Creatives with compelling customer insights, and set the bar for how Creative Strategy will add value to the Walmart Creative Studio's outcomes. You will scale your vision across retail verticals by hiring and training a team of strategists and comms planners. To achieve this, you will partner closely with internal and partner teams as well as subject matter experts to define shared goals, KPI metrics, and implement the right ways of working to ensure our creative ideas are informed by, and resonate with, our customers. Key partners include: Walmart Creative Studio Account Management, Project Management, Creative Teams, Walmart Marketing Customer Insights, Media, Retail Marketing, and external agency partners. Responsibilities
Define and lead Creative Strategy team vision and roadmap, including support model, roles & responsibilities, ways of working, and KPIs. Implement regular checkpoints with Walmart Creative Studio leadership to showcase progress in standing up the discipline, initial wins, and ongoing improvements to creative output. Establish strong, collaborative, trusting relationships across the Creative Studio and our partners. Acclimate yourself to our existing tools, data, and insights and provide recommendations for supplemental tools as you see fit. Build a team of Creative Strategists and Comms Planners to ensure our work is set up for success from briefing to live date. Interrogate our internal briefing process with an eye toward driving efficiency, clarity, and inspiring, actionable briefs. Actively engage in cross-functional planning sessions to ensure the customer mindset is always guiding our decisions. Challenge the status quo in the spirit of delivering creative that drives connection and action. Be relentlessly curious. Re-frame existing challenges in a new light that creates whitespace for ideas and activations. Champion and educate the broader organization on the value of Creative Planning by hosting learning sessions, bringing in speakers, and informal sharing of external examples of customer-centric creativity. Qualifications
12+ years of Creative Strategy and Comms Planning experience at an advertising agency or in-house creative agency. 7+ years managing teams. Proven track record of catalyzing the creative process by articulating clear, compelling and unexpected customer insights. Experience leading high volume of projects ranging from branding and conceptual development to tactical execution. Dynamic presenter, able to tell compelling stories and persuade partners. Strong deck/narrative building and presentation skills to educate, influence buy-in, and drive change management. Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities. Strong ability to plan and manage numerous processes, people and projects simultaneously. Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills. Bachelor's degree in Textiles, Fashion, Graphic Design, or related field and 7 years' experience in textile design, print design, graphic design, or related field OR 9 years' experience in textile design, print design, graphic design, or related field. 2 years' supervisory experience. 2 years' experience working with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or related graphic design software.
