Position:
Research Scientist Required Qualification:
(as evidenced by an attached resume) Doctoral degree in cell biology and molecular biology or closely related field or foreign equivalent degree. Three (3) years of research experience in skin or dermatology basic research, to include at least one year of research experience following attainment of a Doctoral degree or foreign equivalent. Preferred Qualification: A minimum of five (5) years of research experience in skin or dermatology basic research. Experience with molecular signaling in the context of primary dermal fibroblast proliferation and migration, as demonstrated by first author papers in premium basic skin research journals, such as J Invest Dermatol. Experience with investigating proteins in the dermal extracellular matrix, as demonstrated by first author publications. Primary Purpose: The Research Scientist will develop, design and run research experiments and ensure that all research protocols follow the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The Research Scientist will be responsible for the operations of the lab. Determine cell surface receptors and extracellular matrix proteins involved in skin cell (keratinocytes and dermal papilla cells) movement in vitro. Delineate the intracellular signaling pathways and machinery involved in the motility of keratinocytes and dermal papilla cells. Genotyping genetically engineered mouse models. Participate in weekly meetings, review work in progress, and coordinate research efforts with other members of the dermatology research laboratory. Laboratory management of the dermatology research laboratory suite, supervising cell culture activities, coordinating ordering, lab safety, and compliance. Other duties as assigned. Special Notes:
