Job Summary The Assistant Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Advocacy will be involved in a wide variety of responsibilities including: business planning, project management, developing budgets, performing research, leading taskforces and large-scale projects, and creating accountability measures to ensure that projects complete in a timely and reasonable manner. Department Summary Strategic Initiatives and Advocacy develops solutions for a wide range of programs, services and activities that help support campus success. This division is an integral part of assessing the campus strategic planning efforts and providing counsel on strategies to achieve those campus goals in conjunction with other university partners. Working with all university stakeholders, this position provides leadership in executing comprehensive strategies and initiatives around key campus priorities. The division works with the President, vice presidents and other key cabinet members in supporting the university’s plans and objectives while aligning project resources, monitoring efforts, and managing teams to achieve campus priorities and goals. Key Qualifications Provide strategic project management, oversight, policy review and analysis for key campus strategic initiatives including Maritime Integration, Year-Round Operations and the Office of Efficiency and Effectiveness. Serve as principle strategic policy advisor and project manager for Strategic Initiatives. Manage tasks and track milestones, establish strategies for assigned projects, implementation and program decisions based on consultation, and provide strategic recommendations; Monitor the scope and schedule of projects and track performance against objectives and completion of project activities. Provide strategic guidance and counsel to the VP on best practices for current university initiatives. Responsible for the day-to-day management, organization and direction of the VP office staff. Scope, plan and execute projects; oversee transfer of projects to other stakeholders as appropriate. Coordinate with the campus community to ensure strategic planning and projects are in alignment with the University’s strategic plan. Organize and prioritize critical issues and provide required information for the VP to facilitate an efficient decision-making process. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in the area of business, finance, public administration, communications or related field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in operations management. Additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Salary and Benefits The anticipated hiring range for this role is $180,000 - $220,000. Note that the offer is calculated based on the background and relevant years of experience of the individual selected.
