Senior ML Engineer, Manipulation New Milpitas, CA

Tbwa Chiat/Day Inc, Milpitas, California, United States, 95035

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our innovative AI robotics company, taking our AI capability to the next level. In this role, you will develop the core AI capabilities that enable RoboForce robots to work in dynamic and general environments with physical contact. You will work closely with AI Robotics experts to build the robust onboard and offboard foundations for next-gen robots.

Why it’s interesting:

RoboForce, an AI-Robotics company, is building a first-of-its-kind Robotic Workforce System to take on the most tedious, force-demanding, and dangerous work humans don't have to do.

At RoboForce, we're building a small team with a flat organizational structure and extreme talent density. Currently, we have top tech leaders from CMU Robotics, Michigan Robotics, Amazon Robotics, Tesla Robotics, Google, Waymo, Apple, and Microsoft. RoboForce is backed by world-class investors, including a Nobel Prize Laureate, Carnegie Mellon University, and beyond.

Responsibilities:

Design, implement, test, and deploy manipulation algorithms for RoboForce robots with high degrees of freedom, including tasks such as grasping, picking, placing, twisting, and connecting.

Design, implement, test, and deploy motion planning algorithms for RoboForce robots' locomotion in dynamic environments with limited prior information.

Deploy the model on RoboForce robots as a product.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Machine Learning, AI, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related technical field and 8+ years of industry experience in the AI/Robotics domain.

Expert programming skills in C++ and Python.

Understanding of multimodal models and modern ML architectures (transformers, diffusion models, etc.).

Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow, or similar.

Experience in deep imitation learning or reinforcement learning in realistic applications.

Experience in robotics learning through tactile, force-torque, and/or vision-based sensors.

Ready for a high pace in a fast-growing startup.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Machine Learning, AI, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related technical field with at least 3 years of experience.

Demonstrated ability to design and implement ML experimentation and data pipelines with high-quality code that enables fast iteration cycles.

Experience with neural network deployment tool chains and techniques, including TensorRT and model quantization.

A strong publication record demonstrating expertise in developing and deploying perception solutions.

Experience with GPU programming with CUDA.
