Job Description

Responsible for accurately obtaining blood samples via venipuncture and capillary collection procedures with minimum customer discomfort. Provides care to patients whose ages range from infant to geriatric. Ensures specimen integrity by adhering to the laboratorys procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing. The role will involve drawing blood and processing samples, including collecting insurance information, scanning insurance cards, inputting/updating patient demographics, entering billing codes, spinning down specimens, sending out specimens to other labs as needed, and utilizing software systems for various tasks.

Responsibilities

+ Accurately obtain blood samples via venipuncture and capillary collection procedures.

+ Provide care to patients ranging from infants to geriatric.

+ Ensure specimen integrity by following laboratory procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing.

+ Collect and process insurance information and scan insurance cards.

+ Input and update patient demographics including contact information and addresses.

+ Enter billing codes and spin down specimens.

+ Send out specimens to other labs as needed, including CPL lab.

+ Print shipping labels and box specimens for transport.

+ Utilize software systems for various tasks related to specimen processing.

Essential Skills

+ 1+ years of phlebotomy experience.

+ Proficiency in venipuncture and phlebotomy procedures.

+ Experience in outpatient clinic/IOP settings.

+ Certified Phlebotomist with phlebotomy certification.

+ Ability to input information into the EMR, including insurance information.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Outpatient experience including blood draws and sample processing.

Work Environment

You will be the only phlebotomist onsite, working Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a one-hour lunch break. The role involves working with urgent care and primary care patients, mostly adults, in a clinic setting. Enjoy a location away from hospitals, with no weekend work required.
