Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The Enterprise Financial Accounting and University Controller's office works in collaboration with its partners across the University to provide stewardship of our financial resources. Department Responsibilities:
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the University's financial accounting and reporting systems and confirm the validity and appropriateness of all financial transactions recorded and reported therein.
- Guide the University in maintaining strict compliance with the North Carolina and Federal laws, regulations, policies and contract requirements applicable to accounting and reporting.
- Provide thorough, fair and timely disclosures and financial reports for oversight bodies, taxing authorities, financial institutions, bond trustees, benefactors, creditors, customers, the public, the General Assembly, the University's Board of Trustees, the Office of the President, campus units and other internal and external parties as needed.'

Position Summary

This part-time Financial Data Analyst position will help with the transitioning of Asset Management process to ITS, including troubleshooting discrepancies such as AM journals, data errors, and spreadsheet loads, while clarifying ownership of the equipment elimination process and resolving ACS visibility issues in the AM system. Responsibilities for subsystem reconciliation include maintaining and updating PeopleSoft reports, ensuring accessible documentation for SQL, logic, and tables, and collaborating with ITS-EA as needed. Spreadsheet Server duties encompass managing datasets, tables, filters, and customizations for reports, overseeing report changes (Financial Reporting), handling user/license and vendor management (Procurement/SCE), ensuring annual version updates, and managing tree uploads and SSVR segment list updates. Additional responsibilities include supporting FDM report logic and mapping, troubleshooting journal upload templates, managing combo edit rules, lifting cash controls, tree management in PeopleSoft, and handling critical reports like the negative cash and SEFA reconciliation reports. To plan for transition reporting and potential gaps, help to identify ongoing reporting support areas, such as Athletics and Student Health, and coordinate a transition plan for those tasks. This position will provide ongoing support to analyze the adequacy of existing systems/reporting tools and recommended courses of actions for future development; develop dashboards, cost benefit analyses, key performance indicators, and long-range financial modeling in support of strategic planning; and develop financial and budget reports to support management decisions and standardization of data usage across campus and for UNC system.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Masters' and 2-4 years' experience; or Bachelors and 3-5 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Professional knowledge and skill in the implementation and support of ERP systems and demonstrated ability to keep current with developments and trends in this area of expertise.

Ability to create and implement systems, policies and procedures. Ability to scope, design and test business solutions.

Ability to use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions and/or reaching conclusions. Ability to take action consistent with available facts, constraints, and anticipated consequences. Ability to analyze business processes and identify areas of improvement. Must have the ability to implement those process improvements within the organization.

Ability to clearly, succinctly, and effectively convey information and recommendations to individuals or groups orally or in written form. Ability to use appropriate interpersonal skills to give information to and receive information from coworkers, clients, governmental officials, and the public tactfully and in a professional manner. Ability to adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience.

Ability to provide oversight for project(s) and all related activities in that setting. Ability to coordinate and manage facilities, equipment, supplies, and related resources as necessary for the project. Ability to monitor quality control and environmental risks, if any. Ability to establish a set of tasks and activities associated with an intended outcome and timeline. Ability to ensure actions are performed and/or implemented to achieve the results of the project.

Experience in a production support environment, and possess strong analytical skills to be able to perform detailed root cause analysis and resolution. Must possess attention to detail and be able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as Visio.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Prefer experience as a business analyst, with at least some of that experience working with PeopleSoft Financials applications and processes. Prefer three to five years of experience with PeopleSoft financials modules, or with a comparable Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application, such as Banner or SAP.

Strong communication and coalition-building skills are vital. Strong preference will be afforded to candidates who have performed the functions of this position in a public research university.
