Position Overview
In this role, you'll operate various types of heavy construction equipment in order to prepare, grade and pave asphalt. You'll work with a team on projects big and small, playing an integral part as we stand together to reinvent the way our world is built.

What You Can Do (Minimum Qualifications)
- You have a background in heavy civil construction, specifically grading, excavation, underground utilities, site work, and/or projects with related scopes. (3-6 years).
- You're passionate about providing coaching, mentoring, and feedback, as well as promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
- You have a valid driver's license, the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and have current US Authorization to work, or the ability to obtain prior to start without company assistance.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

- Operate equipment safely and efficiently by utilizing equipment within its designed parameters.
- Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
- Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
- Keep machines cleaned and maintained.
- Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
- Keep time and material records.
- Knowledge of aggregate sizes and classifications.
- Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit.
- Travel to and from various locations.
- Assist labor crew including shoveling, raking and compacting of asphalt materials.
- Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production.
- Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
- Regular and timely attendance.

Minimum Requirements
- Must have a current and valid driver's license.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, site specifications, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
- Demonstrates the willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
- Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks.
- Demonstrates the ability to work and communicate well with supervisor, plant personnel, and other employees.
- Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
- Must have current authorization to work in the United States
- Previous construction or related experience preferred.
- CDL a plus but not required.
- Ability to travel outside Helena, MT. Travel will be required at times during work season.

- BALANCE - including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.
- VISION - 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions
- HEARING - corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers
