Description:

We're looking for a Full Time Accounting Manager to supervise and direct the day-to-day accounting activities of the hotel. This position ensures the accuracy, consistency and timeliness of the accounting functions and financial reporting, while providing information and assistance to the Director of Finance & Technology.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, variance reports, G/L reconciliations, bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis and other reports as determined by the Director of Finance.
  • Responsible for preparing and/or approving journal entries as directed.
  • Ensure month-end close by the 10th business day.
  • Ensure monthly the Aging Report is sent by the 11th business day to the General Manager, Director of Finance & Technology and Director of Sales, Events & Marketing.
  • Responsible for direct leadership of hourly payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivables, credit and collections and cashiering.
  • Ensure the effective management of accounts receivables to minimize the risk of extending credit.
  • Ensure the timely billing of all posting masters and direct bill accounts with complete backup and accurate invoices.
  • Responsible for weekly credit meetings with Accounts Receivable to review the AR aging, open Posting Masters and upcoming events for proper payment.
  • Ensure all accounting related disputes and requests for clarification are resolved and responded to in a timely manner.
  • Ensure an effective tracking system for all rebates/adjustments, commissions, IHG Business Rewards and group rates that include breakfast.
  • Responsible for the timely, accurate, approval and proper payment of all vendors.
  • Ensure all expenses have proper approval backup.
  • Ensure proper coding of expenses and revenues to the correct general ledger accounts and accounting periods based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of the Daily Revenue Report.
  • Monitor transaction postings in the POS and PMS systems for accuracy.
  • Monitor transaction flow from POS to PMS to prevent loss of revenue.
  • Ensure proper backup and approval for all write-offs.
  • Ensure all adjustments to revenues have proper justification and approval.
  • Ensure all credit card adjustments have a corresponding charge and justification.
  • Oversee daily cash management functions including: review of daily over/short reports, review of bank counts, review of petty cash transactions, review of credit card batches, review of EFT payments, follow up on over/short and other variances.
  • Ensure proper backup for all tax exemptions.
  • Responsible for Food, Beverage and The Marketplace inventory counts and accuracy.
  • Oversee hourly payroll data entry, processing and all other hourly payroll functions.
  • Responsible for salary payroll data entry, processing and all other salary payroll functions.
  • Assist in attaining financial goals.
  • Person in Charge/Manager on Duty shifts as needed.
  • Special projects as assigned by General Manager, Director of Finance & Technology or ownership.

Requirements:

Specific job knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including, nights, weekends, holidays and/or extended shifts as required to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to navigate and use necessary software and applications.
  • Remain in a stationary position for a constant period of time.

  • Sound understanding and application of mathematics, finance, and accounting principles.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze date, figures, and transcriptions prepared on and generated by a computer. Ability to manually perform these operations if necessary.
  • Knowledge of the Accounting department, its services and abilities.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunities, civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor

Physical demands:

  • Remain in a stationary position for a constant period of time.
  • Frequently communicate with individuals inside and outside the Company to exchange accurate information.
  • Frequently operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a photocopier, telephone, and computer printer.
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to collaborate with co-workers, attend meetings, access file cabinets, and operate office equipment
  • Work tasks are performed indoors; temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures (+110 F) possibly for 4 hours or more.

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from accredited four-year college or university required; or 4 years of accounting management experience overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. 5 or mor years of Hospitality experience required.


Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
