We are seeking Cybersecurity Interns to helpdeliver innovative solutions and new capabilities to solve the most difficult and complex challenges for commercial customers, utilities, government agencies. With a critical mission, we research and engineering to enable our customers to exploit the future of cybersecurity.

We protect mission-critical systems and national security cyber infrastructure through a broad range of initiatives to include network defense, cyber operations, secure techniques.

This unique opportunity will provide interns to learn how to triage alerts and analyze security events and logs for threats such as computer viruses, exploits, and malicious attacks. Interns will focus on building a foundation of cybersecurity regulations and technical training, specializing in Hunt and Incident Response, Detection in support of customers including Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Agency.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Full-spectrum cyber operations, offensive and defensive cyber operations
  • Vulnerability research, and exploit development
  • Malware analysis
  • Network protocol development, analysis, and reverse engineering
  • Host and network-based forensic analysis
  • Machine learning methods as applied to cyber security problems
  • Program analysis (including vulnerability detection and/or remediation)
  • Use critical thinking to bring together information from multiple sources to determine if a threat is present
  • Be able to effectively annotate work completed during an investigation
  • Track incoming alerts from multiple clients and sources effectively
  • Communicate with internal and external personnel during investigations or custom requests
  • Work with Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT) and Data Collection Teams to provide assistance in the areas of data collection, data analytics, and operational effectiveness as it pertains to defined use cases
  • Review existing data collection sources and optimize for empowering operational use cases, with an eye toward removing data sources which provide no operational value
  • Data Analytics helping define data collection, usage, and visualization requirements
  • Ensure technical correctness, timeliness and quality of deliverables
Basic Required Qualifications:
  • Must be enrolled in college by summer of 2025 pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline: Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Assurance
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • A passion to learn something new every day and to stay up-to-date with developments in your field
  • Adept at independent problem-solving and comfortable with a general approach of taking initiative to find and develop solutions
  • A strong communicator with others, both written and verbal
  • Background check and drug screen required (every external new hire in the U.S.)
  • Drug screen only performed on re-hires who have been gone for more than 1 year
  • This is a hybrid role, required to be available to be on-site as needed
Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate self-starter
  • Ability to grasp the "big picture" and see beyond specific problems
  • Security information and event management (SIEM) and data collection tools
  • Ability to learn Azure/AWS/cloud technologies
  • Operating systems knowledge: Linux, Windows or MacOS
  • Experience working with Security Operations Center (SOC)/CIRT team workflows and analytical tools chains for operational efficiency and mission execution
  • Experience with 1 or more programming and scripting languages (e.g Shell, Python, PERL, Java, C/C++/C#, etc.)
  • Experience and ability to effectively use Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel in a team-oriented environment

The salary range for this role is - . The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
