We are seeking the following positions at our Sutton, Ma location

Manufacturing Technician - 2ND Shift

Overview:

The Machinist (Manufacturing Technician/ Machine Operator) will report into their Shift Supervisor and have responsibility for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and making adjustments, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications.

Responsibilities:

Perform all required functions to operate CNC Horizontal Boring and /or Milling and/or Turning and/or grinding machine tools for various machining operations to include but not limited to: milling, boring, facing, turning and grinding on a wide range of forgings of steel alloys. Involves various dimensions, including metric. Performs own setups.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Operate machine while proving out new programs, without the aid of a programmer.
  • Check tooling, setups, program coordinates, and any other information to ensure a quality part.
  • Make all corrections as needed by inputting information into program editor.
  • Make necessary notations for changes or corrections in control.
  • Make suggestions for further improvements in program to shorten run times.
  • Analyze tooling, setups and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Operation involves loading, unloading, and pre-positioning of work; checking of parts for conformity with dimensional specifications by use of fixed gages, calipers, internal and external micrometers, etc.
  • Remain constantly alert to detect improper machine operation or faulty parts; shut down machine and notify proper supervision.
  • Operate, under the proper conditions, more than one machine at a time.
  • Perform mathematical calculations
  • Complete required conformance reports.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned


Required Knowledge/skills, Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of working as a machinist or equivalent education
  • Ability to do mathematical calculations
  • Knowledge of measuring tools is a must
