Job Description
Sortera Technologies brings state-of-the-art artificial intelligence, image/data analytics, and advanced sensors to the industrial scrap metal recycling and reuse industry. Our fast-growing organization is on a mission to create high purity recycled, (and up-cycled!) metal feedstocks from existing scrap streams, and enable the domestic supply of metals and alloys ready for use for high-quality domestic manufacturing, helping to boost the strength of the circular economy.
Job Summary & Requirements
- Design mechanical systems, equipment, and fixtures for material handling equipment.
- Direct and coordinate construction, installation, maintenance, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Integrate new technologies into equipment and processes.
- Perform continuous improvement activities for quality and throughput.
- Analyze product flow and perform continuous improvement activities for quality and throughput.
- Troubleshoot mechanical systems and basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Work with electrical and software teams to integrate with the mechanical systems.
- Develop, document, and follow production processes.
- Support maintenance and operations with repairs and redesigns to meet production goals.
- Create and adhere to project plans and budgets.
- Prepare specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment and the solicitations of contractors.
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in mechanical engineering technology or equivalent.
- Proficient with SolidWorks CAD software.
- Fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes and machining / fabrication.
- Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools such as wrenches, drills, saws, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively with operators and vendors.
Working Conditions
Work around loud machinery requiring hearing protection, hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, and occasional dust mask.
