Nature and Scope of Job:
To perform duties of supervision, operation, care, cleaning, maintenance, and security of assigned facility and site to provide a clean, comfortable, safe, attractive environment to promote the mission of the Sweetwater County School District: "Teaching Effectively-Learning Successfully".
Job Functions:
Essential Functions:
1. Provides direct supervision of assigned personnel daily.
2. Organizes, maintains, and participates in a daily schedule of work assignments for all building custodial personnel.
3. Generates, verifies, and delivers to appropriate building personnel all employee time records daily.
4. Prepares custodial supply and equipment budget annually.
5. Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and maintenance items on a monthly basis.
6. Orders supplies and materials through central warehouse.
7. Conducts periodic training on equipment and materials for assigned personnel.
8. Accepts department responsibilities for daily security of facility.
9. Identifies maintenance requirements and arranges work orders for repairs through Maintenance Department.
10. Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication skills at all times when working with district staff, students, and members of the community.
11. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.
12. Participates in in-service training programs as appropriate.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
14. Keeps building & premises, including sidewalks, driveways and parking area's neat and clean at all times. Keeps outdoor equipment and receptacles clean.
15. Checks daily to insure that all exit doors open and panic bolts are working properly during and after hours of building occupancy.
16. Sweeps, vacuums classrooms floors daily.
17. Dust furniture daily.
18. Cleans corridors after school.
19. Mops, scrubs and disinfects restroom floors, wall fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
20. Checks all soap, tissue and towels dispensers daily to insure they have the necessary items.
21. Cleans walls, doors, windows and other above-floor surfaces at least weekly; more often in dusty conditions.
22. cleans all chalkboards daily.
23. Make such minor building repairs as custodian is capable of.
24. Move furniture or equipment within building required by various activities.
Other Functions:
1. Performs snow removal when required.
2. Schedules and performs weekend and holiday building checks.
3. Provides assistance to building staff members on request.
4. Exchanges information with maintenance personnel as needed.
5. Conducts performance evaluations under principal direction annually.
6. Works at other buildings upon request.

Job Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills an Mental Ability:
Requires 1 year commercial cleaning experience.
Basic techniques in custodial, minor repairs and grounds maintenance.
Supervisory experience would be beneficial.
Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience or Formal Training):
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Reading ability adequate to follow directions resulting in making effective work decisions.
