Description

Our Lead Packer for Night Shift follows the 12 hour rotational schedule, from 7 pm to 7 am.

Production
  • Assign machine line responsibility to Packers using criteria provided
  • Assigns and helps to give breaks (including lunch) throughout shift.
  • Creates and issues labels for cartons.
  • Must be fluent in production parts.
  • With the guidance of the Supervisor, directs other Packers.
  • Backup the supervisor if they are absent by completing incident reports, production shift reports and documents, understanding of SPC, working knowledge of SAP and print Work Orders.
  • Utilize Separation Stroke
  • Manage Packers timesheets and vacation requests in payroll system.
  • Encourage and train packers to complete levels in the certification program and make updates into the LMS as needed.
  • Conduct progress conversations with packers once a quarter (every 3 months)
  • Ensure all necessary boxes that are needed for production are staged and ready to use.
  • Must be able to follow production schedule and ensure that all boxes are labeled or properly printed for use in production.
  • Ensure that all production lines have proper date coding equipment to comply with date coding requirements.
  • Ensure that proper pallet configurations are followed when product is being palletized.
  • Assign other tasks such as repack or hold product inspection, during line downtime episodes.
  • Responsible for picking, inspecting, and packing quality parts into boxes on his/her assigned Thermoforming Line when needed
  • Accurately counting parts to ensure that customers get a consistent, quality product.
  • Bagging counted parts, and placing into correct box on the assigned production line.
  • Assure that each box is properly sealed to minimize the potential for damage.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Safety and Cleanliness
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area, and reports and unsafe conditions to the Operator and/or supervisor for resolution.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and makes sure the packing area is kept clean, at all times.
  • Adheres to safety policy.
  • Must wear all safety gear at all times.
  • Must wear hairnet and glove in handling finished product.

Quality
  • If quality of product is unacceptable and the operator is not around the lead packer will make a decision on status of production until operator or supervisor can be notified.
  • Ability to instruct other Packers on packing quality parts and identifying quality issues.
  • Meets or exceed minimum standards for quality packaged Finished Goods.
  • Reports any quality problems immediately to the Operator.


Requirements

Physical Demands
  • Standing (85% of the day)
  • Lifting (no more than 32 lbs)
  • Reaching (taking parts off machines all day)


Required knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of how to perform basic quality checks
  • Ability to read the production schedule, look up box locations in SAP, and check box inventory for box labeling requirements
  • Ability to use SAP for the following functions - box inventory lookup, finished goods confirmation, and production work order release.
