Qualifications

ROLE SUMMARY

The Polishing Operator is responsible for the chocolate panning/polishing process consisting of operating 16 polishing pans to shine the panned product prior to packaging. The role will manually load each pan with panned product (fruits, nut, tree nuts, etc.) and apply solutions depend on the production recipe and customer requirements. After the process is completed, this person will unload the pans into a loading table ready to be packed. There will potentially be two associates reporting to this position (two helpers). This role is also responsible for maintaining all aspects of production runs during their shift, including shift end, meeting production standards, and submitting all shift documents with accurate and detailed information.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Complete material worksheets, labor reports, and all quality forms.
  • Consume material used during production (in system, Microsoft AX) and report any discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Accurately report inventory in work center.
  • Match retain sample with actual production (validation of quality).
  • Train and instruct new and temporary employees.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness by keeping work area clean and organized at all times. (follow 5s-GMPs)
  • Perform department shut down procedures.
  • Inform supervisor of any safety concerns or issues regarding equipment, material shortages, formulas, and/or employees as they occur.
  • Performance allergen change overs and have QA sign off before starting production.
  • Turn work order packets into supervisor upon completion of scheduled quantity.
  • Conduct scrap reporting according to procedures.
  • Fill out production report based on completed quantity information from line lead packer.
  • Inform supervisor when propane tanks are low and need to be reordered.
  • Run efficiently and follow all procedures related to job responsibilities.
  • Cross-train in all positions within of department.
  • Run a continuous process from one shift to the next. One operator taking over for the other operator (tagging in and out).
  • Encourage continuous employee empowerment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must wear proper personal protective equipment including uniform, face mask, hair net, latex gloves, bump cap, earplugs, and safety shoes
  • Will be standing on concrete, bending, stooping, twisting, and turning for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Required to work weekends during peak season and/or overtime when needed
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft AX, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be well-organized with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to successfully prioritize workload.
  • Possess basic math and reading skills, such as: reading labels, formulas, and directions.
  • Knowledge of measurement, percentages, and ratios.
  • Flexible working hours for a seven-day operation.
  • Dependable and adaptable to a fast pace work environment.
