The Breast Center Educator serves as a navigator RN for all of the Breast Center patients. Ensures that serious breast issues are followed up post mammography, and assists the patients in navigating them through the process of whatever is required to see that their breast issues are attended to, which involves in depth communication with a wide variety of physicians.

QUALIFICATIONS

License /Certification

Required:

CA RN license

BLS

Education

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health, or related field.

Experience

Preferred: Minimum of three years experience in acute care nursing working with cancer patients and their families.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential

Provides direct care and support as needed in diagnostic work-ups. Acts as a resource to anyone wanting information on breast health regardless of whether they utilize our services.

Evaluates standard of nursing practice as it relates to clients' needs.

Engages in clinical research projects.

Utilizes teaching and other opportunities to support and improve the competencies of the Breast Center Staff and any other related areas.

Provides patient and family education.

Promotes a positive, working relationship with physicians.

Participates in assigned hospital committees.

Serves as a resource person and consultant to other hospital departments and community groups/individuals.

Plans and participates in staff in-services, CE and community education programs.

Participates in activities to improve the quality and effectiveness of nursing care.

Submits annual report which evaluates specialty area and projected changes.

Engages in clinical practice analysis.

Additional

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

$46.44 -$69.66
