About ECU Health EastCare
ECU Health EastCare provides critical care air and ground transportation service and is the only medical transport service in the region accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems. There are nine ground unitssix mobile ICUs, including one dedicated to childrens transport, and three BLS ambulances. EastCares five air units cover nearly 300,000 miles during more than 3,500 flights every year and are based in Bertie, Craven, Nash, Onslow and Wayne counties. All units provide rapid transportation and advanced medical care to critically ill and injured patients, including trauma, cardiac, medical, high-risk obstetric, burn and pediatric patients, and more.
Position Summary
Operate ambulances, including Mobile Intensive Care and Neonatal Units, to transport sick, injured or convalescent patients to and from the hospital. Responsible for knowledge of the region and reading maps in researching destination.
Administers basic life support/first aid to transported patients, including moving patients in and out of ambulances with knowledge of all applicable medical equipment.
Performs basic ambulance maintenance, inspections, restocking and equipment cleaning daily with vehicle detailing weekly. Performs clerical duties and other duties as assigned.
Responsible for communication of medical information during transport, documentation of appropriate information involving the transport and accounts for transport charges when received. Must adhere to the schedule of duty as assigned.
Maintains required driver training, certifications, continued education, and hospital requirements.
Assists Transportation Staff with duties involving maintenance of ECU Health vehicles.
Minimum Requirements
High School plus less than 1 year of formal training or education. NC OEMS EMT Certification
Licensure, registration or certification required
NC Drivers License & Emergency Medical Technician certification
More than 1 year but less than 2 years experience working with a Rescue Squad or Ambulance Service.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
