The work of this position will primarily take place in the local Klamath Falls ODHS office located at:

NOTE: Effective January 1, 2025, this position will receive a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) salary increase of 6.55%. This increase is not reflected in the salary listed in this posting.

Summary of Duties

As an Office Specialist 2, you will:
  • Provide general clerical support to Child Welfare Caseworkers and Unit Supervisors.
  • Ensure the timely production of all payments, policy/procedural requirements, forms and letters are in accordance with ODHS policy and procedures.
  • Process all paperwork and payments which guarantees documentation of responsible services to clients and consumers within the District.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal laws to ensure maximum funding for District programs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
  • An associate degree in any field; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Attributes

We are looking for candidates with:
  • Experience conducting work that requires attention to detail, particularly when creating or reviewing documents.
  • Experience communicating clearly and precisely through different platforms (examples: cell phone, email, in-person, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
  • Experience handling confidential information (examples: credit card information, employee information, medical records, etc.).
  • Experience providing customer service that is present, engaging and embodies a positive approach.
  • Experience working successfully independently and within a team.
  • Experience using time management to complete tasks and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions
  • Majority of your work will take place in the local Klamath Falls ODHS office. Occasionally, you will work in the community.
  • Your typical work schedule will be Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST.
  • Occasionally, you will transport children or family members (child welfare clients) to meet business needs.
  • You will interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
Background Checks and Requirements
  • A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.
  • If selected as a finalist, we will conduct a criminal history and background check. Adverse criminal history or background check may lead to disqualification. Additional background check information.
  • Finalists must be cleared by the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) through a fingerprint-based criminal records check.
  • The Oregon Department of Human Services does not offer visa sponsorship. Within three days of hire, you will be required to complete the US Department of Homeland Security's I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. ODHS will use E-Verify to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States.
