Description
SUMMARY
Cafeteria workers are responsible for the preparation and serving of food at schools. They are also tasked with cleaning and maintaining the cafeteria after it closes for the day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. - Monitoring the condition of the facility and maintaining cleanliness by sweeping floors and wiping tables, chairs, and other surfaces
- Setting up tables and cleaning them after each meal is served.
- Maintaining food stocks, preparing food items for storage, and ordering new supplies as needed
- Weighing and measuring students' lunch portions to ensure that they meet federal nutrition guidelines.
- Collecting payment from students for meals or snacks provided by the school.
- Preparing and serving food items using available ingredients
- Preparing and serving hot meals to students, faculty members, and staff members.
- Performs other related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
CATHOLIC FAITH
Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; experience in food service in a school setting preferred.
LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION SKILLS
The ability to communicate,listen to andunderstand informationandideaspresentedthrough spokenwords and sentences. The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. Strong verbal communication skills and active listening skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed mostly indoors in a controlled environment. Medium to fast-paced school cafeteria/industrial kitchen setting with frequent exposure to both hot and cold elements, sharp kitchen instruments, often working in close physical proximity to others.
PHYSICAL and SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
The employee is required to frequently walk, stand or stoop, bend at the waist and reach at or below the shoulders. Continuously uses hand strength to grasp objects and tools and operate nutrition service equipment. The employee must regularly lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds. These objects include bags of milk or juice, cases of fruit, pans of food, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
