Role Overview

The Portland office of Stoel Rives is seeking a junior associate with 1-3 years of construction litigation and/or construction contract drafting experience for its Construction and Design team. You will work on construction and design contracts using different project delivery systems, as well as a wide variety of litigation matters related to construction projects, both public and private.

Members of our team can expect meaningful interactions with local, regional and national clients, involvement in complex litigation and arbitration matters, lead contract drafting roles for major development projects, and high-quality mentoring, training, and cross-office collaboration.

The Skills Needed to Be Effective in This Role

  • 1-3 years of sophisticated construction litigation and/or arbitration experience, including on industrial, multi-family, commercial, and large residential development matters;
  • 1-3 years of sophisticated construction and design contract drafting experience, including on AIA form agreements and custom agreements developed by owners, contractors and/or design professionals;
  • Strong interpersonal skills such as ability to build and maintain relationships with the local business community;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Detail oriented and ability to produce client-ready documents;
  • Good judgment, responsiveness, and perseverance;
  • Strong intellectual curiosity;
  • Self-motivation;
  • A commitment to client service and team success;
  • JD from an accredited university; and
  • Active membership in or commitment to applying for the Oregon State Bar.

How You Will Live Life Well at Stoel Rives: Compensation, Benefits, and More!

The pay range for this position is $180,000 - $188,000; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. This salary range is based on market location.

In addition to base compensation, Stoel Rives has a total rewards program that includes an annual discretionary bonus and rich benefits offerings.
