Position Overview:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance operations of our food manufacturing facility. This role ensures the optimal performance and upkeep of machinery, equipment, and the facility's infrastructure. The supervisor will lead a team of maintenance technicians to minimize downtime, enhance operational efficiency, and comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The Maintenance Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining production continuity, supporting preventive maintenance programs, and addressing repair needs promptly.

This is a 2nd shift position.

Job Responsibilities:

Supervise Maintenance Team:

  • Lead, train, and manage a team of maintenance technicians.
  • Schedule and assign work tasks to ensure that maintenance activities are completed on time.
  • Provide guidance and support for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Foster a collaborative and safe working environment.
Preventive Maintenance:
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure the longevity and reliability of machinery and equipment.
  • Monitor and track performance metrics related to equipment downtime, repair costs, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and industry regulations for equipment safety.
Equipment Repair & Troubleshooting:
  • Oversee the diagnosis, repair, and modification of machinery, conveyors, refrigeration systems, boilers, and other facility equipment.
  • Ensure that repairs are conducted in a timely and cost-effective manner to minimize production disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, replacements, and parts inventory.
Safety & Compliance:
  • Enforce safety protocols to ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and food safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety training and audits for maintenance staff.
  • Manage the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, waste, and chemicals in accordance with environmental and safety standards.
Inventory & Budget Management:
  • Oversee the ordering and management of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records to prevent shortages and ensure efficient operations.
  • Assist with budget management and cost-control efforts for maintenance-related expenses.
Project Management:
  • Support the planning and implementation of facility improvement projects, such as equipment upgrades and renovations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure project timelines and goals are met.
  • Review and approve capital projects related to maintenance or facility improvements.
Reporting & Documentation:
  • Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, including completed tasks, repairs, parts used, and downtime occurrences.
  • Generate regular maintenance reports for management, identifying recurring issues and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and technological advancements to improve maintenance processes.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of food manufacturing equipment, electrical systems, refrigeration systems, mechanical systems, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), automation, and SCADA systems is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a food manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, leading a team of maintenance professionals.
Work Environment:
  • Exposure to both the office setting and food manufacturing facility.
  • Significant amount of time working at a computer station
  • Occasional visits to various areas of the manufacturing floor
  • Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
  • Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.
Physical demands:
  • Frequent sitting, standing, or walking.
  • Occasional ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
  • Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
