Position Summary:
The Level-III (UT-C) NDT Inspector will develop, implement, and maintain all NDT procedures to meet customer requirements and specifications. As the responsible Level-III technician, they will oversee NDT personnel, including their training and records, and manage NDT operations, primarily focusing on ultrasonics (UT-C). The role requires coordination with managers, department leads, and team members to ensure all jobs are tested according to specifications and requirements. This position demands certification to NDT Level III standards, including ASNT-TC-1A, NAS-410, or DoD guidelines in ultrasonic inspections (UT-C). The Inspector will report to the Quality Manager.
Position Summary:
The Level-II NDT Inspector will create, implement, and maintain all NDT procedures and ensure they adhere to customers' requirements and specifications. They will also oversee other NDT personnel, their training and records, and the NDT operations they perform. Primary NDT methods will focus on ultrasonics (UT-C). They will coordinate with their manager, department leads, and other team members to ensure that all jobs are tested to the specifications of each job and meet the outlined requirements. The Level II NDT Inspector will have the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to ensure compliance with customer engineering and quality requirements in accordance with industry and customer specific NDT requirements. Additionally, this position requires certification to NDT Level II industry standards ASNT-TC-1A or NAS-410 or DoD guidance in ultrasonic inspections (UT-C). The position will report to the site Quality Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Focal for NADCAP and Customer NDT related audits and inquiries.
- Develop NDT Level II generated NDI Technique sheets and procedures for ultrasonically inspecting parts in accordance with customer engineering and industry specifications.
- Develop and approve NDT Reference Standards, in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering, to meet NDT engineering specifications. Secure Customer approval, as necessary, for use to evaluate production parts.
- Directly interface to secure Customer NDT Level III approvals, as required, for NDT Technique Sheets and Reference Standards for ultrasonic inspection (C-scan and A-scan) on composite materials, specifically carbon fiber and honeycomb aluminum, and metal bonded assemblies.
- Develop NDT Level II Backlight NDI Technique Sheets for translucent parts.
- Oversee NDT Level I Inspector activities and performance.
- Operate and maintain C-scan (MATEC) and A-scan (OMNI) ultrasonic inspection equipment.
- Interpret, evaluate, communicate, and report findings to quality, production and engineering teams.
- Interpret and review engineering drawings as required.
- Identify problems and provide resolutions, in a timely manner.
- Support research and development to implement future ultrasonic technologies for operational improvements e.g. Magnetic particle (MPI or MT) and fluorescent penetrants (FPI or PT)
- Assist in training and developing others within the team.
- Review and approve work instructions and orders to ensure compliance to customer requirements.
- Review and approve procedures, forms, and other documented information in compliance with industry and AS9100 Rev D standards.
- Perform internal audits against the quality management system, AS9100 standard, and other standards as relevant to the quality management system.
- Assist in the implementation and administration of other quality assurance and company activities including risk management, configuration control, training, auditing, corrective actions, continuous improvement, and preventive actions.
- Assist with material review board activity to properly disposition nonconforming products, processes, and services.
- Perform in depth root cause and corrective action analysis including preventive action using 5 Y's, Ishikawa Diagram, or other tool.
- Manage supplier and customer issued corrective actions.
- Evaluate special processes (e.g. NDT/NDI) at external and internal suppliers.
- Conduct supplier audits to quality standards and in support of supplier selection and improvement.
- Assist in facilitating part movement from one process to the next to meet contractual schedules.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives at external and internal suppliers.
- Exhibit and promote an attitude that leads to an engaged and energized workforce.
- Adhere to all workplace safety guidelines, policies, and laws determined by the company, state, and federal authorities.
- Comply with Rock West Composites' company policies, procedures, and code of business conduct.

Required Education and Experience:
- High School diploma / GED is required.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering field with Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering preferred.
- Requires NDE level II certification in line with ASNT-TC-1A or NAS-410 or DoD guidance in ultrasonic inspections (UT). ANSI/ASNT American National Standard CP-105
- 5-10 years of experience in a technical aerospace quality related field: inspection of composite, sheet metal components, assemblies, etc.
- Familiarity with aerospace prime NDT Process Specification Requirements; Boeing: BAC5968 NDI of Adhesive bonds, BAC 5980 NDI Inspection of Composite Structures & DPS4.738 NDI inspection of Composite Structures; Northrop: ACS-PRS-7001 highly preferred.
- Experience with composite materials and processing techniques such as autoclave, RTM, and compression molding, laminate and honeycomb sandwich panels and metal bonded assemblies preferred.
- Current computer literacy is a must, including full proficiency in the use of the entire Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience with visual factory and lean manufacturing methods such as 5S and Kaizen.

Compensation:
The compensation range for this position falls within $90,000 and $115,000. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset, and other factors permitted by law.
