Sensory-Lab Tech II
Position Overview
The Sensory Lab Technician prioritizes, plans, prepares, collects and reports sensory data used to release raw material and production material. The Lab Technician will support the evaluation of Raw materials and finished seasoning evaluations. The Lab Technician maintains the sanitation and organization of lab which includes, product storage, stocking, cleaning, maintaining controls/references, managing lab supplies.
Responsibilities:
- Capable of using all senses required for the evaluation of food and beverage products e.g. Aroma, flavor, color perception etc.
- Prepares and executes product quality sensory evaluation on Raw materials, Finished seasonings liquid and encapsulated flavor. Which includes preparation of products in different bases, conducting sensory panels, data collection and data reporting/release
- Executes Sensory shelf-life studies of Raw materials, Finished seasonings, liquid and encapsulated flavors
- Receiving shipment samples from external vendors and internal stakeholders
- Maintain and manage controls/references for sensory evaluation
- Acts as a liaison for QA sensory and internal stakeholders. Responds to internal stakeholder's and manufacturing plant questions
- Attend new product meetings as needed
- Effectively communicate with supporting departments on sensory results as required
- Maintain lab stock and supplies
- Maintain Raw material/Finished seasoning database and other sensory databases
- Documents and files sensory data
- Disposal of sensory materials, production samples and storage of products
- Assist in preparation and evaluation of raw material and finished seasonings
- Assist in training of sensory panelists
- Assist in customer complaint and corrective action
- Assist in ensuring a clean and safe working environment
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or another related field
- Preferred- minimum 1-year experience in Sensory
- Good communications skills both writing and verbal
- Proficient computer skills- Microsoft word, Excel, PowerApps and Power point
- Ability to use basic equipment in sensory labs i.e. scales, thermometers, hotplates etc
- Must be well organized, observant and detail oriented
- Ability to work in a challenging and fast paced environment with changing priorities
- Ability to work in environment with strong odors and dust is required
- Strong customer service skills required
- Ability to multitask, adapt and manage rapidly changing priorities
- Must possess strong teamwork capabilities and possess the ability to work independently
- Ability to travel at least 10%
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Physical requirements: ability to lift 10-50 pounds. Must be able to walk, sit and stand for extended periods

Base Salary: $19.58/hr - $29.38/hr
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer.
